God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. @Davino Wow, fantastic. Really fascinating to learn about this culture. They don't have past or future in their language(like chinese), they don't have numbers(abstractions), they don't have a name for colour. All in all their language and culture has spirituality baked into it - they are here now, in the present, the only place you could ever be.

I'm 20 minutes in and this is incredibly interesting. Language shapes reality.

The Pirahã worldview and cognitive framework differs profoundly from Western thought in several fascinating ways:

Present-oriented consciousness: While Western thought emphasizes planning for the future and learning from history, the Pirahã focus intensely on immediate experience. They appear to place little value on distant past or future events beyond what directly affects their present reality.

Empirical epistemology: The Pirahã strongly prefer direct personal experience as the basis for knowledge. They tend to distrust information that comes from secondhand accounts. This contrasts with Western reliance on recorded history, scientific consensus, and abstract theoretical frameworks.

Absence of numeracy: Western thought is deeply quantitative, but the Pirahã reportedly lack exact counting systems and number words beyond concepts like "few" and "many." Their cognition doesn't appear to require precise numerical thinking.

Non-recursive thinking: If Daniel Everett's analysis is correct, their language lacks embedding and recursion, which are fundamental to Western logic, mathematics, and complex linguistic structures.

Limited abstraction: Western thought thrives on categorization, generalization, and abstraction. The Pirahã seem to engage more directly with specific, concrete experiences rather than abstract concepts.

Minimal material culture: While Western societies highly value material accumulation and technological advancement, the Pirahã maintain minimal possessions and technology, focusing instead on skills necessary for immediate survival.

Different concept of time: Rather than linear time divided into past, present and future (as in Western thought), the Pirahã appear to conceptualize time more fluidly, with less emphasis on remote past or future.

Lack of creation myths: Unlike Western religious and philosophical traditions that emphasize origin stories, the Pirahã reportedly have no creation myths or elaborate spiritual narratives.

The Piraha are naturally enlightened.

What you know leaves what you don't know and what you don't know is all there is.

I watched this entire video and it was incredibly interesting. I definitely think he’s right about his theory. Their language and world view does not allow for a sense of time.
