The virtue of selfishness

3 posts in this topic

This is not based on the Ayn Rand book although now I'm extremely interested in reading it.

This is a question for Leo but the overall community, is being selfless just a stage green shadow?

I don't believe in violence and hurting others but beyond that whenever I try to be too nice instead of selfishness focusing on my goals I end up sabotaging my efficiency and not accomplishing much.

I also run a mentoring community and I see it in underperforming men where they say they wanna help the incels and solve homelessness while being completely unproductive humans.

I'm not starting to believe we are humans and thus Apex predators for a reason and if at least myself personally I try to become too much of a humanitarian I end up smoking weed all day thinking about how much of a good person I am and not doing shit about it.

A clear example I'll use for this is dating. It seems more and more that the average woman is interested in the average man and I felt bad about it but the more and more I try to help the average man the more disgusted I am by them! Apathetic and refusing to take action to improve their lives even when that would improve society as a result. I have now decided that I will just enrich myself and date multiple women and the average dude can get an AI girlfriend and hopefully everyone is happy. Self-improvement is too hard for the majority of people, I don't think most humans are meant for it.

I'm starting to understand why God placed the burden of performance on Men and made hot women that don't give a fuck about virtue to motivate us to excel and provide otherwise WHO WOULD BUILD REALITY FOR EVERYONE?

To use the example of Christian religion, Jesus didn't accomplish much. He was stuck in stage green and got literally crucified for it and his people have been suffering for centuries as a result.

Moses by comparison apparently literally delivered divine punishments on his enemies and I mean hard to say an exact number but massacred definitely tens of thousands of people to accomplish that goal.

I like the idea of being 50% selfish and 50% selfless but I'll refer to Nietzsche on this one with his slave/master morality: if you end up at 100% selflessness you will be exploited by others and not have much impact on this realm so what exactly is the point?

Most selflessness is virtue signalling. Be wholly selfish until you have someone worthwhile to give the world. Then be selfless if you wish.

Being selfish is basically self love. No harm no foul.

The world would be a lot better if most stayed selfish since they are just neglecting their own development and making a mess of other people's lives.

Yeah that sounds right to me.

You can absolutely become a multimillionaire by creating systems that help people but that's way harder than doing not much and saying all rich people are greedy and selfish.
