What is Nothingness?

25 posts in this topic

I am currently contemplated what Nothingness is metaphysically.

If you'd like the exercise, attempt to explain what Nothingness is on a metaphysical level.

Thank you :)

Nothing is itself by neccesary virtue of it not BEING anything that It is Not — and So it is Only Itself, For How could it be different when IT HAS NO ALTERNATIVES!!

Nothing doesn't exist.

Nothing is not everything.

Nothing is the hole in a Polo Mint.

Nothing is what you have when you remove absolutely everything.

Nothing is non-existence.

Nothing is a figment of the imagination.

Nothing is a word without definition.

Nothing is everything that something isn't.

You can't get nothing from something.

There is an old Buddhist saying " form is empty. Emptiness is form".

It's basically pointing to the collapse of the duality between somethingness and nothingness.

I've realized it many times.. That something and nothing are identical.

The mistake is thinking that "nothing" is some blank black void somewhere.

No.. Everything we are experiencing all the time is precisely nothing.  It's completely hollow and unstable. No different than appearance of a Dream.

Even scientifically speaking.. If you break down the atoms that make up the universe.. You will get waves of energy. Break down the energry and you get nothingness .  We know now through quantum physics that the universe is literally made out of nothing.

Scientific community just doesn't want to let mainstream society know because it's going to cause a serious existential crisis and mass suicides if people knew that nothing actually exist .

Nothing and something comprise all duality while everything - you - comprises non-duality.

Something isn't some thing at all. It's the god eye viewing the nothing through some thing.

Nothing is the seen.

Something is the seer.

Everything is something gazing on itself via the grace of nothing.

Who's seeing behind the eyes of the one that got his upper face eaten off but still alive. Who's seeing behind the blind man's eyes. I guess there's someone behind our eyes playing peekaboo.

What you know leaves what you don't know and what you don't know is all there is.

There is no nothing. But there is emptiness. But emptiness is also not A THING - it;s nature of empty phenomena, even emptiness is empty so it does not exist. There is no ground. There is no substance. Just ever dancing empty flux of magic. Mystery. All de-reified.

In the Vast Expanse everything that arises is Lively Awakened Awareness.

Nothing is what you get when you realize that space and time are imagined by consciousness, leading to the understanding that reality occurs no where at all without beginning or end.

nothingness is the source of everything, nothingness is infinity, nothingness is God.

The best way to describe nothingness on a metaphysical level would be to say that it is absent of all content -yet full. By "full" I mean full of potential. Infinite potential ready to be unleashed as content.

Deleted word "waiting" for "ready".

Nothingness is the absence of manifestation. It is not emptiness, since emptiness implies awareness of emptiness, the absence of things that fill it. Nothingness is the absence of consciousness, but it is as real as a conscious universe.

Absolute Being is both, not manifested and manifested. Both asleep and awake are exactly the same in essence; only the state changes. Consciousness is the awake absolute; nothingness is the asleep absolute. Realizing that the absence of consciousness is full, is absolute, is realizing what you are, your absolute nature. Reality is not consciousness; consciousness is the awareness of reality. It is very different.
