Nofap is a kind of mind virus that preys on unsuccessful men's frustrations and preconceived moralizations about masturbation. Actual self-improvement comes from doing meaningful action like working-out, healthy socialization, therapy, education, etc. The only tangible thing that depriving yourself does is save time.

If you subscribe to nofap there's statistically a higher chance that you are depressed. I think this is because one's life is empty and lacking in meaning, so you obsess over this relatively insignificant thing as a way to feel a sense of control (plus justifying moral attitudes). I can't imagine someone who's rocking life is concerned about whether or not they masturbate all that much.

you see ..you make a point here ..but what you are missing is that 99.9999% of young males got their brains down their dicks ..and they need to figure out how to deal with their sexual needs properly first before they can focus on kicking ass in life . That's number 1.

Number 2..if we talk about porn..it is. Indeed extremely addictive and toxic ..at least some of it ..so if you are a guy who is struggling with masturbation or porn addiction then you definitely should look into this aspect of your lifestyle first before you can even dream about achieving anything meaningful in your life .

I am never going to quit Nofap. That's at least one area of life I improved. Ofc I have a way to go if I want to be a celibate and I have to figure a routine! If I want to live a lone. Otherwise it's easy to fall off. I want to be healthy for example and committed to spirituality and music.

I am 1 year in. I am alone in every definition, yet I don't. This doesn't mean I don't have ceavings, but I do have a support systems like meditation.

Why it's incompatible? I either spend my weekends doing music if I can or I spend this time with a girlfriend, since I don't do music as my job. Very simple. She will want to travel, spend time with her, kids and so on. I am honest enough to not even start.

Not true . If you binge out on pornhub and fap 5 times a day ..then good luck being successful. Motivation and zest for life comes to a very big degree from sexual energy. Sexual energy is literally your life force .its the fire in your eyes and the hot boiling blood in your veins . Try nofap for a year and watch yourself turn into a self -improvement machine who can't get enough from success.

As far as I know there is the nofap website .the nofap reddit .the YBOP website but that's about it .

On the other hand there is like a million and one porn sites.  So I'm not sure really which one is trying to suck you in ..porn industry or nofap movement?

It's an insult to hardcore drugs like crack and meth to even compare porn to them.

This is the exact kind of radicalization and pseudo-science that I criticize nofap for. It completely throws out empiricism for the sake of making the most eye-catching and provocative statements. There is no strong evidence for porn being bad for you, and the evidence that there is is all over the place.

The thing with abstinence is that there aren't any serious consequences for it so you can get away with magical thinking. Many of the arguments for nofap can be attributed to eating food. It rewires your brain, it makes you fat (unconfident), it wastes time, etc. But not eating food will actually ruin your health. You are forced to be objective when it comes to nutrition to a certain degree, an objectivity that masturbation isn't obligated to because it is an unserious activity.
