How much should a conscientious parent work during developmental years

2 posts in this topic

Any parents out there that can give an opinion as to how much a parent should work during their child's developmental years?

My concern is being available to the child, not just physically present but being able to listen well, able to be patient and help them explore their curiosities, able to distill my experiences into useful lessons. I want to be very supportive with their education and interests.

Any book recommendations?

My future child's development is more important than my work, but I think I would be able to also focus on work. I'm able to move toward very flexible work hours, I think that will make a big difference with exploring interests at least.

It's very difficult.

There's no advice to give. Just sit and think hard about what is best for everyone.
