@Yimpa It's possible that Europe sees a giant crash and all the wealthy people seek refuge in the basically last solid free economy on earth the USA, I could see that scenario.

@TheEnigma what you point out besides Elon musk being disliked is too generalistic and fits to all stocks of a car company.

Tesla is more than a car company. Zuckerberg is also disliked and look at meta now.

Tesla dropping down to 80 USD is heavy unrealistic. Only if the entire market would be down in a historical crash this could happen.

If it has already dropped to 113 USD in 2023. Why wouldn't it go back to that or even drop below that? It's already almost done it.

Europe doesn't have volatility, the u.s. does.

When the US crashes, all the other markets will crash with it.

Yes it's not completely unrealistic.

TSLA stock can be worth either $400, or $100 next month and nobody can predict the price. There are zero fundamentals in the current pricing. It acts just like a meme stock and that's the main reason why you shouldn't invest in it.

You should buy stable companies with realistic PE ratios that you don't have to watch for the next 10-20 years.

@FourCrossedWands Very good point. Don't buy stuff that lives on hype.

For comparison, BYD, the biggest Tesla competitor, has already stolen Tesla's marketshare outside the US, yet it's still only about 20% of Tesla's marketcap.

  • Tesla PE: 130
  • BYD PE: 26

@Leo Gura Hype is nothing bad. And to make the impossible come true you need hype.

As an investor I gladly welcome hype. It's good for the company.

Tesla delivers. It's not something like a fraud company even if many things were promised too much.

Tesla really can make the impossible come real through fake it till you make it. I buy the hype. Tesla can reach 1000 $.

You can invest in solid companies who are good at doing hype.

Hype is nothing negativ per se.

If Elon musk is doing great at making hype and something good comes out then everyone is satisfied.

Let's face the truth.

Tesla is no Apple and the hype is now mostly gone.

It was too fragile.

The hype is gone but next hype will come . There are enough hypes waiting for Tesla  (robot taxis, human robots, Trumps promotion)

Yeah, Elon will announce something new, the stock will shoot up to 500, then it will fall back to 200 after a Tweet or something, then it will go up again, and so on.

What's the purpose of holding such stock?

The purpose is to make money with the next hype. That's called trading.

Trading, not investing. Tesla is like an investment in trump NFTs.

Other companies are blowing tesla out of the water, with everything, cars, AI, robots.

That's right, but Tesla can really mass produce and everything is home made.

Don't buy Tesla but today the price is better at $262

The tariffs help tesla. Electric cars have fewer parts, none of the emissions components I.C.E. vehicles do. Their Canadian parts are outside of these tariffs.
