Is now a good time to buy Tesla Stock?

21 posts in this topic

Hey everyone,

I'm wondering if now might be a good moment to buy Tesla stock. Given its current valuation, do you think it's a smart investment?

I'm particularly interested in Tesla's potential beyond EVs—especially in robotics.

Is now a good time to buy Tesla Stock?

It's unlikely that their price: earnings ratio will be what it was anytime soon. The investors clearly saw how overrated their stock was and the bubble burst.

If you got some leftover cash lying around and want to go for it for the thrill of it, sure why not? But there is always risk in investing in a single company that you don't have when you invest in a fund where individual performance tends to balance out among the index corporations.

Otherwise if you wanna play slow and strategic game, nothing beats standard index fund investing with regular monthly contributions.

The Tesla case has been repeated over and over across years by many other companies, tech giants and industrial Corps going back to 60s but if one thing is clear is that the index funds have always shaken off radical drops where many companies haven't.

Tesla stock is heavily manipulated and in general, the current price is overpriced.

Elon Musk is also too involved with politics now and this will alienate a rather significant part of US population. The risk with Tesla is high with little reward. If Elon met with an accident like even a broken leg, stock may fall 10% on a single day.

Also in the car industries, Tesla is facing greater and greater competition from other car manufacturing companies. Tesla's profit margin is very low for a company that has to spend so much and hold so much inventory in terms of costs.

Tesla is one stock you should stay away from.

The whole market is still very overvalued.

I've been making good gains on gold while all the stocks crash.

People dont have money to buy any cars because interest rate is so high.  The car market is just flat across the board as for EV's Tesla still makes the best one out there and the company runs itself.  The smart thing to do for Tesla is to have Musk step down on CEO and keep him as an advisory role which I can see them doing.

The current valuation of Tesla is 740 billion dollars. Do you think it should be worth more or less?

People hate Elon Musk. Buying Tesla is like investing into Mussolini in early 1940s. On top of that it's extremely overvalued.

Yeah Tesla imports into germany halfed because of it. I think its great that the people have this political instrument in choosing what to buy and what not to pressure companies.

I think it's probably a pretty bad buy. It has a fundamental problem in terms of management and PR which is Elon Musk, and I doubt he's going away any time soon

If you want to own Tesla stock, the best time to buy is when everyone hates it.

These protests will not sustain. All this outrage will fizzle once people get bored of it. And Musk will split up with Trump soon enough anyway.

I suspect it's too risky. My friend told me to buy it because it's relatively low now compared to it's all time highs. But given how disliked Musk is, and how much competition there is, plus things are not looking good for the economy, even if everything is artificially inflated. I wouldn't recommend it right now. There hasn't been a bad enough crash yet to make it worth the gamble. And there's many other reasons I don't want to go into right now. What if you buy it now, and it drops to 80 dollars USD a share? Would you be okay with that?

@TheEnigma what you point out besides Elon musk being disliked is too generalistic and fits to all stocks of a car company.

Tesla is more than a car company. Zuckerberg is also disliked and look at meta now.

Tesla dropping down to 80 USD is heavy unrealistic. Only if the entire market would be down in a historical crash this could happen.

Is comparing Tesla to Facebook adequate? People really have no choice but to use Facebook if they want to stay "social". On the other hand, Tesla is a gimmick and has been a gimmick since the beginning. There are dozens of other options and you don't even need to use an EV whatsoever. The stock should be below $100 and it's PE ratio is a joke.

People mistakenly invest in Tesla like in the whole Elon Musk empire, including Space X. Tesla on its own shouldn't be worth more than any other car manufacturer, especially now.

@FourCrossedWands that's not what I meant.

I meant Zuckerberg is disliked as well as musk and the stock is still doing well. So it doesn't depend all on how you like or dislike the chef of this company.

People don't like Zuck but:

  • They are addicted to Facebook, Insta, etc.
  • Facebook is free.
  • They don't hate Zuck as much as Elon, it's not even close lol

There is a whole global movement against Elon and his products. Even the most die hard fans now hate him.

If Tesla sales drop even further, expect a complete meltdown of the stock.

If you sell later with gains would that still support the company?

Way more. I could easily see a $10 trillion Tesla in 2030 with the money printing and it hitting its robotic goals. Tesla is supremely well positioned with its heavy investment into AI(remember every Tesla on the road is gathering data 24/7) and X.ai with it's cutting edge model. Let alone when optimus robots come out and change our economic system forever.

My only question is will it outperform Bitcoin but it terms of tech stock Tesla is a no brainer.
