Why the hate against Christianity?

393 posts in this topic

You do need Christianity yet don't realize. It tells you, you are a miserable sinner. You scoff at the idea and continue in your self indulgence and self deception.

You don't even know what sin is. Nothing to do with misdeeds or crimes or failings.

Sin is s.eparation i.magined n.ow

Sin is s.elf i.mposed n.ightmare

To name but two formulations.

Both of these would take a whole (Christian) book to explain the details.

You won't get this from Leo.

Only Christianity.

The problem with Christianity is that it uses guilt and shame to confront sin, which doesn’t work very well because it produces hypocrites.  The ego can be infinitely tricky and self deceptive in protecting itself, and as a result forceful techniques don’t work very well.  For example, a megachurch pastor was recently accused of sexually abusing a minor.  The Buddhists use meditation to gently and systematically uproot the three poisons.   In Buddhism, “sin” is ignorance of the true nature of reality.

@Jodistrict Counterintuitive though is how important guilt and shame can be if met consciously for growth. Some of the deepest spiritual growth requires going through those difficult emotions not avoid them.

True, but there is a difference between accepting emotions that arise internally and having something forced on you from an external source.  Buddhist meditation does the former.

You don’t need Christianity. It’s not a requirement.

It's for the people who don't want to think for themselves.

Fun fact : Isaac Newton, one of the greatest minds ever, was deeply involved in Christianity. His faith not only didn't hold him back from changing the world with his discoveries but actually inspired them :D

So we've established that the tools do exist. That's a great start. As to your comment on their potential and epistemic foundation, I would say it is coming from ignorance, but it's okay, we can work on that 👍

Nice try.

I do think we are being a bit too harsh here. We're not harsh enough on Christianity but too harsh on the teachings of Jesus. These are too very different things as Christianity was founded by Saint Paul, not by Jesus.

Rajneesh in my opinion has the most beautiful commentary on the Gospel of Matthew I've ever heard.

@Husseinisdoingfine They kind of go hand in hand. It is all fundamentally a rejection of Christ's existence and pretending like it is all made up.

But the truth turns out to be that you cannot realize truth or God without Christ.

And if one's mind doesn't want this to be true, one will come up with all sorts of "reasonings" as to why I am not real.

You can't be a fair critic of Christ without realizing it in yourself, not really.

It is sort of like Donald Trump criticizing Justin Trudeau. Trump certainly feels that he is coming from a "higher perspective", and can come up with all sorts of "good reasons", but we all know that he isn't.

On one hand, Christianity can be as beautiful as other high teachings, but on the other, the teachings have been bastardized so bad that it is one of the largest contributors of continued suffering on the planet. It’s current form is diametrically opposed to truth and integrity.

My sister and her whole family feared hell so much, their lives now look like something out of a Christian cult movie. They’re so far gone, they ain’t ever coming back. It has robbed humanity of way more than it will ever provide. It’s modern form deserves to be rejected and condemned, IMO.

honestly, throughout history, Jesus original teachings have been twisted by people who just wanted power. I mean, look at the pope, he’s basically the face of this whole massive scam. Over time, these folks have messed with the message so much that anything tied to christianity ends up getting hated on, and it’s all because of these religious fakes. And here’s the kicker : the bible actually has a bunch of stuff in it that calls this exact thing out. But of course, you’ll never hear about that from the so-called "representatives", they’re the kings of hypocrisy.

I started figuring this out when I read the bible myself. And the more I read, the more I realized how twisted catholicism is, like, it’s one of the worst offenders. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings here, but let’s be real : all these labels catholicism, protestantism, anglicanism, eastern orthodoxy, pentecostalism, baptism, it’s all just a big lie, a huge mess, and a clear sign of corruption. Jesus was all about love, humility, helping the poor and he had an insanely deep understanding of reality, but these people turned it into some power hungry, money grabbing circus.

Now, I’m not saying there’s nothing good in any of these teachings. You can definitely sift through and find some truth in there—but you’ve gotta have a solid level of awareness to avoid falling into the traps these systems set up. And it’s not just christianity, it’s the same with buddhism or any other spiritual or philosophical teaching out there. It’s like, the moment you turn it into an organization or a denomination, you’re already way off track.

Interesting strategy. Engage the weak, avoid the strong, and call it enlightenment. But real mastery isn’t about what you respond to, it’s about what you can’t ignore. Some questions sit like loaded dice on the table, refusing to roll the way you want them to. And when silence is the best defence, the real game is already over.

I think you would have coasted past it more than you think. You’re smart.

You just probably would throw fits like I do when you see people like yourself try to explain it away.

I saw people buried in Christianity and I tried to have these debates— they go nowhere. But you’re doing it right— your way— your platform.

I shouldn’t be so pessimistic.

As a young man in his 20s— I am the one who struggles with hate. Any advice on how to remain strong in your convictions against the devilry of someone like Trump without having it corrupt yourself on some level?

Or do you have a brief re-hash on how one could frame such a situation in a healthy manner?

It’s hard. Thank you for your work.

You are and I forget that. I do not know that I could ever understand and explain like you do.
I think I can be patient and but have had to give patience up for some in my personal life for my own sanity. It can be too easy to become flustered hearing back and forth takes on some topics while holding my ground as a young man and being strong in my values.

I am not trying to whine. You know it’s hard. I am in a constant battle of ‘Bad Trump’ — this is why he does it. ‘Bad Christian’s’— they don’t know any better.

When I say Christianity, I don't mean going to Church every day or stop masturbating or fearing hell.

I mean reading the Bible and specially the Gospels, taking into account Non-Duality and God-realization as the ultimate goal.

Being open to multiple religions, philosophies and at the end, aiming for God-realization and when you reach that, dropping all your religion.

Christ is a great teacher because he embodied a God-like personality in how he treated others and managed life.

You are Christ!
