The world has too many countries

8 posts in this topic

I believe that if we reduce government structures to 5 or 6, along with all the military spending that comes with it, and combine that with advances in AI and automation, we could free the majority of the population from working. Only a small, ultra-ambitious group of people, like technicians, programmers, engineers, and those in industries and services that can’t be automated, would continue working. We could have a healthier and more intelligent society, with time to eat well, rest, pursue their passions, read, and enrich culturally. It would something similar to ancient Greece, but without the slavery factor. Our attachment to national identities is an obstacle to progress.

It is true that there would be a risk of many cultures dissolving, and this should be avoided, it’s important to preserve the world’s cultural wealth. But in tangible aspects (economy, defense, administration, justice, etc.), we should be unified.

It’s in our hands to create a better world.

Let me know what you think.

I think countries like the US , China, India, Russia etc are too big and powerful and should be split up.

Free Tibet, Free Texas, Free California, Free HK, Free Xinjang, Free Vladyvostock, Free Hawaii, Free Kerala and so on you get the gist.

The world is not yet at that stage of development. The Balkans alone exceed your suggested number of countries and I contest no time soon will the ethnic rivalry be reconciled.

@Alex4 This is a good idea, the more countries we have the more complexities arise and then life for the Masses gets worse imo...

Countries are man made things, lines on maps, as its money, economic, political systems and so on, all  this is to help the masses live better, more healthy lives, but its all failing, life is getting more complex, more suffering is arising out of all of this, the why shifts over from generations to generations largely due to how technology is utilized, today it is utilized for some to take advantage of others and profit from it, so that has to stop, we can use Tech to help all, part of this is change is for all systems to benefit the masses, but in today's age there is no "Profit" in doing that, so that is the main thing, change that sort of mind set, get rid of profit, one person being overlord over many,

Less Countries,  more simplicity, let tech work for our benefit and we can thrive!!!

You have it backwards. Complexities in the human condition are the reason for a lot of countries and not the other way around.

We should make the UN a genuine ruling international body. First give it jurisdiction over problem areas or areas with signifiant international crossover (Jerusalem, Kashmir, NYC, etc) then expend from there.

Why are we so afraid of an international government?
