Cal Ai

30 posts in this topic

Does anyone know if this is a useful tool? It costs just a little money so I wanna know if it’s worth it. I don’t calorie count strictly because it’s not necessary to know with full accuracy how many calories I’m eating, but I’m wondering if this is a good tool to get an approximate amount, something to use sometimes when you wanna know approximately how much you’re consuming.

For those who don’t know you take pics of your food and it calculates how many calories it is.

Wow for real ? Can you link to the appstore or wherever you got it from ?

I don't pay attention at all to calories.  I have quit calorie dense food . You should focus on the nutritional value of the food not the calories.

I eat only lean meats and lean vegetables and fruits and some eggs.  No carbs or fats. No sugar no dessert etc.

Calories matter if you’re trying to lose weight which I’m trying to currently. But I still eat healthy (except dessert on weekends). So nutritional value and health matters too of course. Calorie counting is not necessary it only matters that you eat less compared to what you usually eat at maintenance (if you’re trying to lose weight). But it can be nice to know the approximate calories sometimes when it’s harder to eyeball how much you should eat to lose or maintain the weight.

The app is called “cal ai” on AppStore, the slogan is of a white apple with black background.

Yes which is  exactly what I'm saying . What I mean by " I don't care about calories" is basically I eat low calories food . Because I'm starting to grow an ugly ass belly and I want to burn that .

Refined sugar is the number #1 cause of health problems once people get past 40 yo.(OK maybe smoking and drinking more but still junk sugar is not worth it ). Try to make fruit smoothie with milk . Banana with cocoa and milk and mix them in the blender .

It will be very approximate.

Might as well use MyFitnessPal or Cronometer directly.

What a hell.

I don't eat much and I'm thin, but there's no way I'm going to restrict myself to that extent; never in my life. :P

I mean I guess it's better than NOTHING, but my guess is that it would be very very imprecise.

Plus, with the same effort of taking out your phone and taking pics you could just put the quantities of the food in a food tracking app like fatsecret or any other app, even free, and you'd be ultra precise.

Strange . Aren't you as it seems knowledgeable in nutrition?

What do you eat typically in a day ? Carbs and sugar are bad for your guts because they contain gluten.

I don't eat much but I take protein powder and lift .

Indeed i was very interested in nutrition in the past but in fine i prefer eating what i want; I like eating and cooking so i don't want to make too much efforts there; I just don't smoke (actually sometime buy a pack lol, but's it's rare) or drink, take vitamins/minerals + omega 3 capsules, and eat a fairly balanced diet.

I snack a lot, but if I want to save time I stick to one or two meals a day, I don't care about the meal schedule, I eat if I'm hungry or have time.

What I eat changes all the time but if I had to make one big representative meal it would be something like this:

-50/100g of salted and roasted cashew nuts (or peanuts, cheaper) as an appetizer.
-Two minced steaks (250g in total) 15% fat fried in a little butter/olive oil or a large pork chop (cheaper).
-100g (weighed raw) of wholemeal pasta with about 10/20g of butter.
-A small chopped tomato and some lamb's lettuce mixed with a , tabasco and dried garlic powder to taste, a little bit of cider vinegar, and a big tablespoon of olive or walnut oil, a few walnuts.
-A can (33cl) of coca cola or pepsi.
-Plain goat's cheese yogurt, without anything, or with a sweetener; For example quince jam.
If I have more courage to cook I could cook two bananas cooked in butter with rum at the end of cooking, and a goat yogurt on the side, or even vanilla ice cream, yum.

I don't care.

Fortunately the world is fundamentally subjective because I would have died with all these egregors available (diets, parasites, heavy metals, microplastics, atmospheric pollution, prana, black magic...) lol.

Eating low calorie food is one way to be in a deficit yes. I prefer though to eat any food (healthy) but just in smaller quantities

I have recently wanted to cut back on sugary stuff even more. For example by trying some healthy dessert recipes that uses things like maple syrup for example, but I don’t know how that compares to sugar when it comes to health, maybe it’s almost the same. And maybe a homemade sweet dessert isn’t so bad after all, the store bought is atleast worse. Fruit smoothie sounds tasty, some time I will try

Those apps is when you weigh the food and log it am I right? So they will ofc be more accurate. But that takes more work. I did try myfitnesspal one time but then stopped using it. It’s the ideal way of counting calories though.

Cal ai is a very simple alternative. And I don’t need super accuracy becuase losing weight will happen as long as you just eat less in general and that’s simple

I’m the same. I rather just eat less in quantity to lose weight than eat only low calorie food. For example I really like Olive oil, Parmesan cheese etc

Does the app have a free trial?

Yes . I guess the ultimate test of the app would be to do classical calorie counting by weighing and logging into something like my fitness pal, then comparing the results

That’s true. Weighing the food/counting the quantities and logging it is the ideal way of counting calories. I did do that a short while but then stopped because it was so much work kinda. But I might utilize it again
