@Breakingthewall, FYI, he was a president once. You have had time to observe him.

You just can't ignore what he is. What he is has been formed by his past actions. He's not the type of person that changes for the better.

Don't ignore his past connections to Russia, which you can easily find out.

Also, he gave a (fake) promise to solve the Israel-Palestine issue, and yet he doesn't even recognize what Israel is doing.

When he was president did not fully develop its potential. This does not mean that this potential is positive, perhaps it is terrible, but we have not seen it yet. He is making many radical and disconcerting decisions right now, and the world is in a very delicate moment. You have to see where what he is doing is leading and what else he is going to do.

Many times people with good intentions cause disasters and corrupt people avoid them. It is impossible to predict the movement of the world in the coming years and the influence of Trump. Maybe it will be catastrophic and there will be a nuclear war, or maybe there will be no war in the next 10 years and the world economy will prosper like never before. It is absolutely impossible to know now.

Trump seems more like a natural phenomenon than a politician, we will see what the consequences of his presence in the world are.

@Breakingthewall, Trump went to the top by scamming people. You are ignoring truths about him.

How can you trust a person like that to run the government again?

You are willing to let him be catastrophic in the future, and yet you are furious at Biden.

Zelensky seems to have changed his tune about peace being a long ways away.   It appears that Trump's strong approach is what is needed to get a peace deal.

"Zelenskyy says he will work under Trump’s leadership as he proposes Ukraine peace plan"

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/mar/04/zelenskyy-ukraine-peace-plan-ready-work-with-trump

Well of course he did.  What choice does he have.

It’s quite frustrating to argue with people who support an authoritarian, violent dictator who bombs people without caring about human life.

These people act like propagandists.

Personally i just put them on ignore.

Netanyahu and Putin.

Putin lost more Russians in Ukraine than Americans were lost in WW2.

They just throw men into the meat grinder. No care or value for human lives.

Agreed.  Still no excuse for personal attacks or belittling someone.  I like your idea.  Maybe she should start using the ignore feature.

Maybe, but the topic is about the war in Ukraine, how if begun, etc, not about the personality of trump. I don't know yet how trump is. Seems quite crazy and impulsive, and of course corrupted, but it's a must in politics. Let's see what he does, not what he seems. For now it's soon to make an opinion.

Lol what? You're just admitting you are uninformed. No, it's not too soon to make an opinion, wtf xD

Yeah I understand that. It's unfortuante and a kind of self-deception you could say. I hope they don't act on it militarily however.

On the other hand, and why you could be very much right, the economy of China is based mainly for export everywhere. Yes, maybe China has A LOT of money and people are poor due to income inequality, however I can't immagine what China's economy is going to be if it invades somebody and! I think Taiwan is very special for USA for it's microchips, so there will be an escalation for USA-China and because it's in NATO it means Article 5, but even without NATO US is a very strong player and I think due to a lot of corruption on China's part, their army could be seemingly less effective compared to USA, but who the hell knows now due to DOGE and the actual capacity of China's Army. And I think Chinese people don't want to fight, that's what I feel. I could go on an on, but yeah, you could be right that they acctually won't escallate.

I think the big difference is that Trump does things mostly for himself. While Putin does things mostly for Russia (or his vision of Russia).  And Trump is an attention whore while Putin isn’t really. Trump isn’t really ideological while Putin is. That’s just how it comes across here.

What he did was he took the US and made it an aspect of himself.  Like one of his businesses.   So you're right..he doesn't care about "others" what he did in his own mind was make the US a part of his own identity.  The attention whore thing, that's just him growing up in the American culture, with money, coming from an entertainment background.  It will always be in his blood.

I am shocked that Mearsheimer went as far as to say that Zelensky is to be blamed for failing to protect Ukraine, should step down, and that that will be legacy:

That’s what Trump told Zelensky in the meeting.  Without the US he has no cards.  With the US, he has cards.    Zelensky gets pumped up by the European elites fawning on him as their hero.  In the long run it’s beneficial to be brought down to reality.

A poker game is a good metaphor. But I prefer Chess.  Trump doesn't know how to play Chess, nor would he understand the game, so that's why he used the card game metaphor.
