WATCH: Trump argues with Zelenskyy in Oval Office

286 posts in this topic

"The public humiliation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by Donald Trump and JD Vance could have far-reaching consequences for U.S. foreign relations, global alliances, and geopolitical stability. Here are some potential negative implications:

1. Weakened U.S. Influence Over Allies
U.S. allies, particularly NATO members, may begin distancing themselves from Washington, fearing that their support will be transactional and dependent on the personal whims of U.S. leaders.

Countries reliant on U.S. security guarantees might start diversifying their defense partnerships, possibly shifting toward European-led security initiatives or increasing their own military spending.

2. Damage to the U.S.'s Reputation as a Reliable Partner
If the U.S. publicly ridicules and undermines an ally actively engaged in war, other nations may question whether the U.S. can be trusted in their own times of crisis.

Countries at risk of aggression (e.g., Taiwan, Baltic states) may begin preparing for a world in which they cannot count on the U.S., which could encourage preemptive alliances with other powers, such as the EU, Japan, or even China.

3. Strategic Realignment of Ukraine Toward Europe and China
Zelenskyy and future Ukrainian leaders may view the U.S. as unreliable and seek alternative partnerships, strengthening ties with European nations or even looking toward China as a potential investor and diplomatic mediator.

If China offers Ukraine financial aid or peace negotiations, it could undermine U.S. influence in Eastern Europe and give Beijing more leverage over NATO affairs.

4. Russia Gains Psychological and Political Leverage
Moscow could use this as propaganda, claiming the U.S. is abandoning Ukraine and that NATO unity is a façade.

Russian-aligned actors might be emboldened to push further aggression in Eastern Europe, seeing that U.S. commitment can waver based on political figures.

5. Increased European Autonomy in Military Affairs
France and Germany, long advocates of European defense independence, may use this as justification to push for an EU-led defense force that does not rely on the U.S.

If NATO members see the U.S. as unstable, there could be a serious push toward a European military alliance, reducing U.S. leverage over European geopolitics.

6. Possible Fractures in NATO and Transatlantic Relations
Eastern European nations that depend on U.S. support may begin prioritizing direct European military agreements over relying on Washington.

NATO could face internal divisions, with some members demanding that the U.S. reaffirm its commitments while others move to insulate themselves from U.S. political shifts.

7. A Precedent for Openly Humiliating Leaders in Public Diplomacy
If this kind of public spectacle becomes a norm in U.S. foreign policy, future global summits and negotiations could become grandstanding contests rather than diplomatic problem-solving exercises.

World leaders may avoid high-profile meetings with U.S. officials for fear of being publicly ridiculed, making backchannel diplomacy more crucial but also more opaque.

8. Encouraging Other Nations to Undermine the U.S. in Global Forums
Countries like China, Russia, and even neutral powers (India, Brazil) may use this incident to argue that the U.S. is an unreliable leader on the global stage.

The U.N. and other international bodies could see increased pushback against U.S. initiatives, with nations more inclined to oppose Washington’s positions out of distrust.

9. Destabilization of U.S. Foreign Policy as Future Presidents Adjust Course
If Trump’s foreign policy continues to be erratic, future administrations may struggle to convince allies that the U.S. is stable, leading to a whiplash effect where nations hesitate to commit to agreements.

Foreign leaders might hedge their bets by waiting out U.S. political cycles rather than engaging deeply with any one administration.

10. Undermining Efforts to Negotiate Future Conflicts
If the U.S. eventually decides it wants to negotiate a peace deal for Ukraine or any other conflict, it will be much harder for American diplomats to be taken seriously.

Future leaders seeking U.S. aid in conflicts might hesitate, fearing that their support will be conditional on personal loyalty to U.S. leadership rather than strategic necessity.

Conclusion

This unprecedented display of public hostility toward an allied leader could erode trust in the U.S. as a diplomatic power, embolden adversaries, and push allies to find alternatives to American leadership. While the immediate consequences may be contained, the long-term ramifications could reshape global alliances and weaken the U.S.'s ability to dictate international affairs."

@puporing To me its kind of like vegeta and goku. Goku knows he is stronger but he  dosent want to piss him off for no reason, cause he has a very fragile ego. And if he wants 2 more candies just to puff his chest out then give it instead of infinitely trying to take them back. If he takes 2 more after you let him get away with it then goku can do something. Goku has been wrestling for those candies for 4 years and vegeta isn't stopping to prove and ego play. Goku can either murder vegeta here and possibly damage the planet with an outburst of rage or give up and let him keep them.

Okay. But that's kind of irrelevant, they are both fundamentally making a huge mistake in their "ideologies".

It's a fatal mistake.

So it doesn't matter what kind of "bromance" they have, they are both fundamentally mistaken in their worldviews.

Maybe I'm not understanding your analogy accurately.

I think Trump just like Putin, is playing the public.

Of course they don't want to appear like they're criminals. They all have to portray a "convincing narrative".

And unfortunately more often than not, people are fooled by it.

@puporing i mean like vegeta and goku if they hated eachother. Here is a more clear version.

Goku gave krillin and vegeta 7 candies each and vegeta took 2 of krillins even they signed a contract they wouldn't. Goku give krillin his energy so he can battle vegeta, they battle for several hundred episodes. Goku says hey krillin maybe you should just let him keep them if he takes anymore we will deal with it then, maybe I will physically fight him instead of me giving you my energy. Krillin says I don't fucking beleive you you are working for vegeta! Goku is saying wtf???? You better shut up you are lucky im giving you my energy to fight him give him your 2 candies cause I don't want to have to fight him.

Ok but Zelensky doesn't want this war/fight in the first place, so that's a mischaracterization.

Like it's very easy to fall into this portrayal of him that he wants to be in this war.

@puporing I'm not saying he wants too be in it. He is saying give up the candies or we have ww3. If he takes more then maybe we can have ww3. We don't know if he's flexing but we can't infintely fund a war forever while not wanting said war to get out of control.

Zelensky accused trump of working for Russia when maybe he's just trying to stop it. We don't know.

We're basically already in WWIII in my view. It's just being contained by Ukrainians currently.

Trump is playing you/the public. He can seem convincing yes, but he doesn't give a shit really, like he would simultaneously say he doesn't want more lives to be lost while also saying stuff like "It's your war and I don't really care coz there's an ocean between us".

And oh meanwhile let me see what kind of loots I can get off of you.

Shameful.

It's the lowest of the low really.

Lex has become so corrupted by his personal friendships with Musk, Trump, and Rogan.

Sad.

@puporing I'm not a trump fan I am a fan of logically trying to understand people's thought patterns. I try to see why peoples decisions make sense. I don't think trump is a mastermind it has been told that he just beleives whatever the peoples closest to him say and he surrounds himself with people that worship him. I don't see any other logical reason why he would be doing this and I'm not going to instantly hurl Russian asset narratives because then the games already over and I don't know.

I do know there are many Russian asset as big media names but I don't know if trump is maybe but I don't know yet. I try to understand from him being good because its harder. I think elon musk is.

The weird part to me is I get labeled as a fool or a retard everytime I just try to speculate as why he might doing for good reasons. There is major anti trump bias on most of the internet.

@Hojo Well to that it's unfortunate, but essentially people do not have enough consciousness to see it clearly. So they are easily being swayed back and forth by Trump and Musk. This is what is happening and I'm just trying to alert you to it. But neither of them are good people, they will slowly take your stuff until you have none if we allowed them.

You just have to observe more so their real actions (including their biographies), than their words and appearances. Yes this is a good starting point if you can't see it clearly like I do. And then be aware of the fact that they are master tricksters playing with your mind so that you mentally diminish what those "actions" actually are.

Looking forward travelling to Ukraine. The Ukrainians are smart people. Ukraine is the perfect place to create an AI evolution for the entrepreneurs out there looking for an easier place to move red tape to build the country back more quickly with a virtuous vengeance.

His friends aren't to blame. He himself is a devil. He traded what integrity he had, if he ever had any, for fame and notoriety. He's enriching himself by calling what is right, wrong, and what is true, false, which is the essence of devilry.

Zelensky was presented with absurd positions and when he rejected their premises, he was smeared as being disrespectful. Now, Russia's bot farms are in full effect on Twitter and YouTube, fooling the masses into thinking Zelensky was in the wrong here... and Lex is right there with them.

If these high-profile figures aren’t Russian assets, then they’re unwitting players in a masterful act of manipulation. If they aren't on the take, Putin is either the luckiest bastard on the planet or a manipulative mastermind. Somehow, the people with the biggest platforms just so happen to continuously amplify the narratives Putin would like amplified.

Wow that is painful to watch. Zelenksy being used as a cheap pawn on the board.

People are giving Trump too much credit. Even under Biden he was being tossed around.

This is a great lesson for other countries. Never accept being used as a pawn. Zelensky is a fool for thinking he would be allowed in NATO and EU in exchange for being used as a diaper.

There is no mystery to it.

Trump is an authoritarian whose only mission in life is to serve himself and anyone who kisses his ass at the expense of everyone else. Trump hates losers and weakness. So of course Trump will side with Putin over Zelensky.

Trump respects Putin because Putin is a powerful authoritarian. Trump is disgusted by Zelensky because Zelenksy is a weak democratic liberal man in a losing position.

If you can't understand this, you don't understand Trump at all. This is Trump 101.

Holy shit. Just the psychology of Donald Trump is incredible in understanding deception, ego maniacal self-absorption and power. It's like a grueling face of corruption.

Trump has completely fucked our international standing. We’re now officially the bad guy. What happens when a narcissist’s reputation starts going to shit? They get angry and start throwing their weight around. We’re going to wind up allies with Russia. The risk of WW3 just skyrocketed.

How does winding up allies with Russia risk WW3? Who is fighting in this war if the major player in it is now on side..Unless the expectation is that a Russia/US alliances goes against China - the chances of which are as low as Trump checking his own ego.
