AI being used by Vilans. And a question

9 posts in this topic

I have a real question. I’m being sincere:

Who on the left is thinking about the future and how tech is folded into it, the way Yarvin and Thiel and other dark enlightenment/neo-reactionary ppl are?

Why does AI seem pre-ordained to be used for wealth extraction and neo-feudalism and not for public good?

Genuinely asking bc it seems like the left has resigned itself to managing decline and not actually creating something to look forward to

We are not seeing ai or what ai can do we are essentially seeing a cucked lying version of ai. I don't think we will ever see what ai is that will happen behind closed doors.

Ai could be the most unbelievable tool to exist but something is stopping it from reaching higher potentials right now.

To me right now its useless because its too expensive for the public to use properly and the real stuff is hidden.

If they let the real ai out they instantly lose so much. It would tell the people we are being conned.

@Rafael Thundercat It is. Most money is made towards the public good for the simple fact that people are waiting at the gates of those places. The 'bad' comes actually after the good, kind of like how bank robbers come after banks.

What I find more humorous though is that this whole time for so many decades now people have been imagining UFO's/UAP's if they exist in the stereotyped form as spacecraft flown by beings as opposed to driven by advanced autonomous artificial intelligence / AGI.

There is just no way future flight is going to be steered by a human behind the wheel, especially at the speeds and aerodynamics we'll be capable of outside of 5 to 15 percent of situations for the sci-fi future that awaits us; I know, because that's my industry.

@Letho I heard that their spaceships are literally their homes and communities. The inside of a spaceship that looks like its the size of a house warps space and time so the inside can be the size of a football stadium.

Unfortunately we didnt get the good yet. They cucked it before release. They didnt release their vault to be robbed.

Daniel Schmachtenberger and Slavoj Žižek come to mind.

When the world’s most powerful individuals and corporations are fully committed to capitalism and AI in their most extreme and extractive forms, any attempt to negotiate social justice or genuine progress for all sentient beings inevitably amounts to nothing more than managing decline.

Of course, this vision isn’t particularly flashy or bombastic. In fact, today’s left has become a fundamentally conservative force, while the right - ironically - drives what now passes for "progress." It’s a mindfuck, but it makes sense: if industrial civilization is built upon the logic of capitalism and game theory, then any "progress" within this system ultimately accelerates social injustice and ecological devastation. The best the left can offer, then, is a deep breath - an attempt to step back from the madness and chart a sustainable, just path forward for civilization.

Again, that’s essentially Schmachtenberger’s project:

The problem? I don’t see this happening. In a game-theoretic landscape, slow, holistic approaches will always lose to the ruthless acceleration of exploitation. And the timescale of gradual, passive change trickling down through generations simply doesn’t align with the inevitability of systemic meltdown and humanity being forced into radically post-human forms of subjectivity.

As Nick Land puts it: "Nothing human makes it out of the near future." I couldn’t agree more. Whether that’s something worth looking forward to? You tell me.

“Did you ever say Yes to a single joy? O my friends, then you said Yes to all woe as well. All things are chained and entwined together, all things are in love; if ever you wanted one moment twice, if ever you said: ‘You please me, happiness! Abide, moment!’ then you wanted everything to return!” - Friedrich Nietzsche

This was the most recent and also most interesting take from Daniel Schmachtenberger on AI, which also relates to your question:

AI seems pretty-ordained to be in the hands of the reactionaries because they are the ones with the capital and the puppet president to make it happen. Neither Schmachtenberger nor Zizek have a rats ass to contribute. With the latest white house buffoonery, you can forget international cooperation. This is why it is an arms race.
