Are there any trans or other LGB people on this forum?

I grew up in the 00s where the only sexual orientations that were recognized were gay, straight, and bisexual. At least, that was all I had ever heard about while I was still a minor.

Is there a term for having a preference for dick-havers, but not an exclusive one? Not for masculine or feminine presentation, but dick-havers. That includes trans, men who want to cross-dress, etc. Throughout my life, I've thought of myself as straight, heteroflexible, bisexual, pansexual, etc., all while trying to keep up with modern vernacular. TBH, I need to be driven by a very strong, unrestrained romantic and sexual drive to ignore otherwise incompatible or repelling cishet men on a personality level, which would then make me want to compromise, converse, and work things out where I could not be bothered to otherwise. AKA. It's never been an issue with the bodies or raw sexual attraction, it's what comes out of men's mouths...

Like we are just different, you know?

I've even had a moment in my late teens where I asked myself, am I trans? (But how can I be trans if I don't have a strong gender-identification preference and am mostly willing to either go with the flow, or I'm willing to deliberately develop some aspect of myself or another, whether "masculine" or "feminine", and am deeply ambivalent about the current status of my own genitals?)

Like I'm fine with being identified with a woman for the most part, but I've never intrinsically seen myself or felt like one. It's always been a performance or taking on a highly deliberate role.

A transwoman in a girl's bathroom who doesn't convincingly pass is going to cause issues. In such cases, it’s better they use the disabled toilet or something adjacent.

I just used the women’s public bathroom and I can easily pass as a man today. Had no issues at all.

Your results may vary.

I also didn’t bother to wash my hands afterwards. Two wrongs piss off the right xD:D

Even if people did cause problems. As joy’s partner I would advocate for their trans rights as well as human rights. A bathroom is just a bathroom. Just like single unisex bathrooms.  Trans women are women at the end of the day regardless if they’re passing or not.

Gender is arguably a matter of perspective but that doesn't mean that there aren't real and serious consequences to gender. If you look like a man than you have to contend with how others perceive you regardless of how you feel about it. Most organizations seem to have figured this out relative to bathrooms where everyone wins.

A flaw of transgenderism is that in practice people aren't always going to be on the same page. Transgenderism is inherently very subjective but the real world can't just be subjective because people have survival needs.

Yeah, that's my opinion now as well. Initially, I was not sure because I thought that regular women feeling comfortable and safe is also important, but after thinking about it more, I've realised that you can't regulate access to public bathroom based on how comfortable someone is "with other people".

And the safety argument like: "what if some pervert guy pretends to be trans" is bad because trans people should not suffer and be held responsible for actions of other bad actors in the society. Also, like mentioned by @Elliott, nothing is really stopping some perv from sneaking into a women's bathroom and hiding in an empty stall anyway.

The trans people I know are totally happy to use a gender neutral or 'disabled' toilet separate from gendered bathrooms too.

It keeps them safe and keeps the sanity of people who don't understand trans people intact. So the solution is really open ended and case by case, if decision makers could just use a bit of empathy and perspective we could find good solutions.

But that's often a big ask for little minds
