Psychedelics and antipsychotics

9 posts in this topic

Does anyone know which psychedelics still work if you are on antipsychotics?

I am diagnosed schizophrenic and receive a risperdal consta (risperidone) depot injection every fortnight.

I actually have very good insight into my condition based on the amount of psychological and spiritual work I have done, yet the professionals claim I lack insight. That's another story.

Basically, since being on the injection, I have tried psychedelics on a few occasions, but there was no effect. This may be due to the possibility that the injection is inhibiting the effects in some way. Another possibility is that I have such an advanced psyche that I already see the world in such a way that the psychedelics have no further things to teach me.

I tried psilocybin mushrooms, and no effect. I tried LSD and there was no effect.

I would like to try 5meo but am assuming that there will also be no effect if I do try it. I don't know.

Although cannabis does still have a strong effect on me, when I (very infrequently) smoke it.

Does anyone have any input on this?

@TruthFreedom

Aren't you concerned that psychedelics might worsen your condition?

It seems very risky given how unpredictable psychedelics can be, especially with schizophrenia.

Oh woah that’s actually really fascinating. I have no experience with this but a quick google search did come up that another person said their experiences with LSD were less intense (however, still existent) while on an antipsychotic. It makes total sense. That being said I’m trying to figure out why you want to take psychedelics if you are schizophrenic?? Going crazy is not fun??

Maybe he is just trying to upgrade to the premium version of schizophrenia. B|

Notice I said I am diagnosed schizophrenic, which means that it is simply the mental health professionals subjective opinion that there is something wrong with me.

If you have studied spirituality and mental illness, you will know there is a strong connection between the two domains (watch Ted Talk titled "Psychosis or Spiritual Awakening?"), and also that it could be considered that mental illness does not exist (read "The Myth of Mental Illness" by Thomas Szasz).

That's if you're interested. 🙂

Yes, schizophrenia can be seen as a spiritual awakening of sorts, that's why I consciously induced it upon myself when I was in my early twenties.

(Although I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else. I knew my path was going to be extreme and I chose it willingly, but not everyone survives hahaha)

I had some sort of kundalini awakening, that i couldnt work anymore. I could summon spirits/entities many other things, and it was like my mind was more fluid. I went to doctor to get sick days from work, he thought i might have early stages of schizophrenia. Ofcourse i could feel the doctor energetically and could easily tell where he is at in the development.

Yes schizophrenia is not understood because it's simply an unusual stage of mind, usually in this stage your mind becomes more fluid/less stable so you tap more into consciousness.

Depot injection is the culprit most likely. It stays in the system far too long as a gradual releaser. I've had no trouble tripping with full effects the next day after oral risperidone.

Already fully aware of the connection there’s no need to talk to people like they’re stupid.
