High blood pressure and erectile dysfunction

When I started working at 18 years old, which was 3 years ago I didn't have high blood pressure and definitely not erectile dysfunction, and now all of a sudden I do. The erectile dysfunction started immediately after I started working, but I only found out that I have high blood pressure yesterday. I blame these two health problems on working long night shift hours. Every 4 days I'm required to work from 7PM to 7AM (12 hours total) then I'm free for 2 days. But I always wake up normally in the day at around 12PM, so every 4 days I'm awake from around 12PM to 7-8AM the next day, and I've been working like this for 3 years consistently. 

Everyday I feel drained and fatigued which makes it hard to exercise or do anything, I haven't had morning wood since my last vacation. Every now and then I wake up with blood running down my nose, It actually launches me out of sleep since I feel it running really fast.

When I go on vacation, I feel normal, my morning wood comes back in 4-5 days, my energy goes back to normal. I'm saying this because I know erectile dysfunction is associated with higher mortality, and no morning wood is definitely ED.

My blood pressure was 150. The quick examination I took didn't measure my hormones or anything else, now that I know I have high blood pressure along with ED I don't even feel the need to check, I know Its bad, I just don't know to what extent. 

I tried making nightshift work by taking naps but apparently the human body doesn't like to stay awake during the entirety of the night even If you slept for 8-9 hours before it with the best sleep possible.

The solution is obvious right? I wanted to make this thread anyway... I'm been educating myself on various topics around nutrition and exercise for years now, but I never bothered to look into blood pressure because I didn't think I was susceptible to it, especially not at 21.

The house is probably the problem. Exposure to mold or toxic chemicals

You have another shift job? Did it start before or after this?

I very much doubt it, by vacation I also meant staying at home while on vacation. I have a second house in the town I could test it out.

Nope, the job I have currently is the only one I ever had.

Basically my shift is from 7AM to 7PM (dayshift) and then 7PM TO 7AM the next day, so just in reverse. And then after the night shift I'm free for 48 hours, and go to the dayshift again after that. In those 48 hours I'm very groggy.

The ED started Immediately after I started working, I have just been ignoring it for 3 years.

@MarkKol ED or just no morning erection ?

It could just be lack of REM sleep, stress, and general exhaustion. I would stop ruminating as much as possible, stressing about nothing in general, I would meditate, take vitamins and juices rich in antioxidants; @Jason Actualization recommends pomegranate juice from what i remember.

At what time did you take that blood pressure reading? How many tests did you do?  Were you caffeinated? Did you sit still for 5 minutes prior to it? Left arm, not right? 

Also, did you measure on your day off work days? Was this measured by a doctor or yourself?

I took it at around 9:30 in the morning, I woke up around 1-1.5 hour before that.

I wasn't caffeinated, I sat down, first they tested my vision to see if I can read small letters, then hearing tests, and after that I laid down and they strapped some devices on my chest for heart examinations, all that took around 5 minutes, then I had my blood pressure checked on my left arm.

This was my day off and I don't think I worked the day before that either, it was done by a medical professional.

Was it a one-off or has that reading been repeated before? 

You could consider buying something like an Omron meter for yourself and measuring at home, I measure my BP  fairly regularly just to self calibrate as I have hypertension in the family. 

But yah, if it shows that its consistently that elevated,. it would be a good idea to take that seriously (without wanting to frighten you). There are many practical ways to go around that and lifestyle factors to look into - stress, bodyweight, hydration,  sleep, sodium intake, high amount of foods linked to hypertension like processed meat and red meat,  caffeine, potential for hereditary hypertension. So definitely follow up with the practitioner and ideally get to the root cause of it. 

It could have also been a white coat syndrome so that can be a factor too

It was just a one off thing yeah, I will look into buying that. It doesn’t really run in my family so I’m still a bit surprised.

My ED completely disappears when I sleep like a normal human being in a matter of a few days. My job is also pretty stressful.

By erectile dysfunction I meant the inability to have erections even when aroused. 🤔
