Just statng reality.   You want to knock Trump and say he is the devil and all that. Well he didn't force anyone's hand.  He didn't make Zelensky do anything. Zelenskyy is very brave, he’s brave compared to most world leaders, let alone compared to a keyboard warrior like you.

If he wasn’t brave, it was expected Ukraine would fall in 3 days, and purely thru the bravery and courage of Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people have they been able to retain their independence. And that’s WITH dealing with a turncoat like Trump and unstable support from the US and the west.

Seriously, you could not be more wrong about what Zelenskyy’s made of. “I need ammunition, not a ride.” He had the option to flee his country, instead he stayed and fought, and single-handedly forged an independent Ukrainian identity with his people. None of that was assured. It shows how biased and mistaken you are to characterize him as you did.

Again, wrong. He lives in the threatened country. And at the start of the war, everything was in doubt. He pulled off a master class in leadership, no doubt by being on call every minute of incredibly stressful 18, 20 hour days, for months on end before things stabilized. You will never know stress like Zelenskyy experienced in those days. You can just look at how the man looked before the war, compared to now. He used to be a comedian, ffs.

And he’s also not like an American president who can order strikes on the other side of the world, then go to bed in the White House residence and see how it went in the morning.

At the start of the Russian invasion, everything was in question for Zelenskyy and his people. His example is one of the greatest case studies in leadership of the 21st century so far.

I have no interest in debating a mind so unserious that would call this shining example a bitch. I’m only here to remind the rest of the readers of this thread of the facts about Zelenskyy’s character, which he has proven admirably.

I thought Zelenskiy did a great job standing up to Trump and Vance.  He didn't take the BS.  Good for him. They basically bullied him because he doesn't "hold the cards" and stated he doesn't want peace when he does with guarantees.   He explained how Putin disregarded previous ceasefire and other negotiations and went back on them.   Trump refused to acknowledge because he's backing Putin.

So I was wrong to call him a bitch. 

So no Trump:'s not my guy.  But the left doesn't have a lot going for them either. So I try to look at things without bias. For that you have to do POV jumping.  Sometimes I still show bias depending on which POV I'm coming from at that particular time

That's just with a dumb buy-and-hold index strategy that a lot of people do by accident through automated 401k contributions. 

Of course, most people in a position to do this in 2008 had lost a huge amount of money in the crash from the GFC. But the point is, there have been huge structural factors pushing stock prices up since 2008 (read; massive money-printing) so no one who did well in the past 15 years should think it's necessarily because they're a genius. Unless they did much better than the market overall, in which case maybe they can think they're a good investor. That said, I rather doubt anyone did better than 19.5% unlevered return on an annualized basis, otherwise they should be running a hedge fund. 

I didn't say that my dad necessarily did much better than the market. However, most investors have failed at it, especially those who are self-taught because of lack of proper education & strategy, emotional trading & poor risk management, overtrading & high transaction costs, not enough starting capital, and the market can be brutally competitive.

Yes, his main strategy has always been the buy-and-hold strategy with serious stocks and keep riding the wave no matter what happens. 

Fortunately, for people like him who started seriously investing in stocks around 2009, our country went through the longest-running bull market in US history (March 2009 to March 2020), then went through an extremely sharp, but extremely short 2-month bear run, followed by this current near 5-year bull run.

Besides, My dad practically taught himself and has been doing all this work on his own since 2009. Unlike Warren Buffett or other brilliant investors like him, my dad never had direct personal mentorship or formal finance education. He built his knowledge purely through self-education (reading books from top investors, not being personally taught by them). Moreover, ever since 2009, he as never relied on financial consultants or experts, even after becoming successful.

Also, there's nothing inherently wrong with massive money printing, especially when the economy is in a serious downturn.
