Russian trolls, disinformation, propaganda etc.

It’s interesting almost every video from France24 English that i watch has a lot of pro Russian anti western comments.

And i just now watched a video from BBC about how Russia spends 9% gdp on defence and most European countries aren’t ready to defend themselves.

And most comments are like „we can’t challenge Russia“ "we so weak“ „Russia is right“

To me it’s clear that Russia is specifically targeting these big French and British channels.

Because i often wtch smaller channels who are anti Russian pro Ukraine like Kyle Kulinsky and they have almost no Russian troll comments.

There are also many people on this message board who seem to watch Russian propaganda every day.

The idea that Europe can’t defend itself is silly, Russia is having so much trouble with Ukraine now imagine if all the other European countries were also fighting with them.

Regardless Russia has no interest to take on Europe directly as a direct conflict with NATO could easily escalate to nuclear war and destroy human civilization.

Russian bots are a minor issue compared to mainstream outlets that hold water for US and NATO propaganda, which has been far more damaging.

I've seen and heard many European people from minorities defending Russia, which attacked Ukraine, also to reunite their minority... It's not all trolls, it's for example french minority in Italy complaining about their territory in Italy.

I know it’s not all trolls but many who are influenced by Russian propaganda. Even things like Brexit might have a lot to do with Russian anti western propaganda.

Influencing the minds of your adversaries is a legit strategy in order to undermine their politics in your favor. I feel like there is more pro-Chinese propaganda surfacing as well.

The epistemics of social media is particularly weak while being an epicenter of influence. Its ripe for exploitation. China and Russia gating their internet is probably in part so that the US doesn't do the same to them.
