How Has Cleaning Up Your Diet Helped You?

18 posts in this topic

Dear vegetarians/vegans who are not attached to this title :P

The title of this topic speaks for itself though. How did it help you? How did it affect your consciousness? Your energy/productivity and all that good shit. Can you give a before and after comparison?

Oh.. and if it's possible. Can you please post your favourite vegetarian/vegan meal/smoothie/whatever?

Much appreciated. I'm planning to finally make that step. All help would be welcome.

It really put me back in track to be proactive about such a crucial aspect. Personally I was already caring about it but I was not that consistent, to motivate myself to do it was harder, this gave me somehow a nice light feeling, so I created the routine easily this time, and I'm really glad for it. This is my second week with the soup so far, it's delicious:) but to test my energy levels, it is itself not enough for my life style.

It is the consciousness , meditativeness which has changed my food habits, for me vegetarianism is result of meditation.

Yes, exactly! The same for me. My body literally asks for a vegetarian/vegan diet now. Thank you for the Pulao :)

Changed my life, when i cut out most animal products, junk foods, processed foods and introduced more whole, organic or homegrown or wild-harvested foods into my lifestyle as well as getting into superfoods and medicinal herbs/spices & fungi eventually i became alive again!

More awareness, more compassion, more conscious, empathic, life became more about helping others instead of helping myself as i noticed this change in diet changed my whole lifestyle views and perspective, i was finally able to think properly and clearly once again, dreams came back, slept better, more energy and felt closer to being a child again.

Less animalistic thoughts and cravings, less aggression, less mood swings, not to mention IQ skyrocketed 20-30 points within 2-3 years. All of this allowed me to understand how the human body works and how it functions optimally.

I became connected again, to life, to nature, to animals, gratification and appreciation at every meal knowing how amazing they are going to make me feel and the more i did this the more the rewards became amplified.

I had forgotten how it all started because soon after ultimately lead to my re-awakening. When the body isn't chemically balanced and nutritionally optimized it cannot awaken or activate(if you will). I truly believe this.

Peace

I'm Vegan. I found that I'm a lot more clear-headed and have more energy during the day. However, in the evening time, I need more rest if I haven't taken my vitamins. I'm also more sensitive to what I eat. Before, I was unaware of any effects my food was having on my mood and emotions, and now I'm a lot more aware. I've been Vegan for almost a year now. But many changes have come as a result: eating less sugar, more fruits and vegetable, and eating fewer processed foods in general. I really can't bring myself to eat a lot of the things that I used to because I've gotten used to a different way of eating. Here's what I currently do for my meals:

I eat 4 meals a day

Breakfast - Smoothie with Orange Juice, Bananas, Blueberries (and/or mixed berries), Gogi berries, Chia Seeds, Coconut Oil, (and Matcha and Beetroot Powder inspired by Leo's smoothie video).

Lunch- Salad with 2+ types of greens (Romaine Lettuce, Watercress, Spinach, Arugula, Spring Mix, Bok Choy, and Kale are what I usually pick from). I also add alfalfa sprouts, grape tomatoes, shredded carrots, cucumbers, and balsamic vinaigrette or any dressing with a healthy oil to help absorb vitamins.

Meal Between Lunch and Dinner- Vegetable Soup with 4+ types of veggies... made with Coconut oil, Garlic, and Sea Salt.

Dinner- Whatever I want. I sometimes do veggies burgers, pastas, vegetable sushi, Mexican food or really anything with protein.

Snacks- Larabars are great and have a ton of protein and have very few ingredients. I make tofu chocolate pudding. I'll sometimes get Lentil chips or Pea chips.

I highly recommend trying Pumkin Pasta. You boil some (potentially Vegan) pasta. Then you saute several cloves of garlic in olive oil. Then you add one can of pureed pumpkin and one can of coconut milk and still together with the sauteed garlic. Heat it up for a few minutes. Then add about a half cup of Nutritional Yeast to the mix. Salt and pepper to taste. And it has a sort of alfredo-like taste and texture to it. It's really good.

Personally I never took B-12, and studies found those who consume more plants are actually less deficient in b-12 than others who didn't.

Nature is very intelligent, she already provides everything we need to sustain life and as B-12 comes from the soil it is more present in root vegetables, mushrooms and unwashed vegetables than it is in animal products and then again B-12 lasts in our bodies for a very very long time.

There are many foods out there that grow naturally and have plenty of B-12 for us to be and feel healthy. I think this whole B-12, Iron and Protein thing created to keep people away from a healthy lifestyle like this because then there is no profit for pharmaceutical and medical systems if everyone is curing themselves.

For instant we need nowhere near as much protein as they tell us, there is much more iron in vegetables and sea vegetables than there is in meat per gram and B-12 well i just explained it. If you are worried just supplement with B-12 spray once a week or less but if you consume organic and whole fresh foods and vegetables, and stuff like spirulina, nutritional yeast with your cooking, aloe vera, mushrooms, root vegetables and tubers ect.. often you shouldn't have to worry in my opinion.

Just trying to help raise awareness on the subject, i think its more of a myth than it is important, nature has been perfecting life long before we existed, we didn't supplement before when we were growing up and supplementing now with a more natural or health conscious approach just doesn't make that much sense at all.

Hope this clears things up for some people, i could be wrong but just listening to my inner-wisdom and sharing my 2 cents :) I have tested supplementing and not supplementing and honestly did not notice any difference in my life or my health.

Some great advice here. :) Thank you for sharing the above information and links. I have been a pescatarian my whole life, and have gone through long stretches without eating seafood or even dairy products, but there is still a lot to learn about how to make the most out of my diet. I would like to add Dr. Rhonda Patrick to the links you've already posted. She isn't primarily vegan, but I do like her smoothie, so I have posted the link to that recipe below. Enjoy!

@Visionary I used to have anxiety and manic depression, at least that was what some ignorant doctors diagnosed. Then I went vegan & started excercising, lost 50 pounds, gained tremendous energy and clarity and realized - I'm actually 100% made out of what I eat, and so is the quality of my thoughts.

No problems anymore.

I have no idea why I didn't see the obviousness of this before.

Favorite shake....raw meal w greens protein mix, ice, chocolate milk, banana & peanut butter.

In Japan, citizens are required to have a physical annually. If a males waist is over 35", female 31", they receive nutritional counseling. America's obesity rate, 60%...Japan, 3%.

If only we all ate what we want to eat. But, then I suppose the competitive factor would be off the charts.
