Any Value In Reading The Bible?

39 posts in this topic

If you read between the lines, so to speak, sure you can derive Truth from reading the bible.

For instance, the quote: "Truly I say to you, unless you change and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven".

Meaning: One must become egoless (like a child) to realize one's true nature.

Been watching Bible debates recently. It's kinda entertaining sometimes.

Imagine for a moment, dear friends, that you are Conciousness, and that you have only this one awareness - that you are at peace, and that you are.

Yes it is good, but don't look upon reading any book as some means to an end, just use the information, contemplate it a bit but sooner or later You have to get out of this intellectual pursuit of Truth and find it within Yourself, if it doesn't come naturally too You then Use already established and effective time proven methods (Yoga) to help You with it...

"the kingdom of God is within you" appears in Luke 17:21. The full verse reads, "For, behold, the kingdom of God is within you".

This reminds me of when I got into my own bible debates my first semester of college. Pretty fruitless endeavors though since their so stuck in ideology (as was I at this time).

I watched this playlist and deeply resonated with it. The way Aaron explains the Bible is truly magical. Also, the key is to read the “passion translation” version of the bible, it’s amazing and whoever wrote this translation was really realized.

Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew 5:44

I mean come on does it get much better than that?

You’d be better off meditating or studying Buddhism. Christianity isn’t known for getting people closer to consciousness. It could, but there are obviously better resources. Contemplation itself would be far superior IMO.

"The 72 Names of God: Technology for the Soul" is a good book if you want to go deep into Bible.

Leo’s work is better than the Bible.

Reading the Bible to discover truth is like looking for scientific facts in poetry.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

I’d say there is for sure value.

You can understand some stage blue ideals much better, I reckon, if you read it

I think that to truly understand the Bible, one must also understand the culture, symbolism, psychology, mysticism, language, etc. of the ancient Near East. It is very different from our Western understanding.

In addition, the traditional Bible is poorly translated. George M. Lamsa, an Armenian scholar, translated the Bible from the ancient original Eastern text and found that the versions we read here, such as the King James Bible, contain 1,000 to 1,200 translation errors.

For example, they translated many phrases literally, when in fact they are metaphors that can only be understood if one understands the cultures' backgrounds. It was only after I did the necessary research and studied Near Eastern culture in detail that the richness of the Bible really opened up for me.

Of course theres value to reading the Bible. But just remember it is a Conflict Resolution manual. Do not get Lost in dogma. If You follow the Gospels You can Enter a spiritual state of Harmony called The Kingdom of Heaven.

  • In council rooms and kitchen tables,
    On battlefields and playgrounds too,
The supreme saying waits for voices,
To carry it from me to you.

For what is conflict but a failure
To see yourself in others' eyes?
And what is peace but recognition
That in our shared breath, salvation lies?
