I have had cordial private conversations with NoSelfSelf since January 1st, giving him feedback about what I saw as some problematic posting behavior.

After several back and forths, he was not interested in taking constructive feedback to elevate his conduct as a Mod. We discussed him not being a Mod any more. He was open to that and not offended. I was careful not to make any rash moves, so I waited, hoping that maybe he would take the feedback to heart and that his posting quality would improve. That did not happen and the situation had escalated today in his conversations with other Mods, not wanting to hear any feedback from them either and getting disrespectful with them. So it became clear that it was time to demote him from being a Mod. Then he created this thread after sending me a slew of profanity-laced private messages.

That is the situation. At this point he is no longer a Mod but also no longer able to post on this forum because he is clearly upset and letting him post is no just sensible now. We have higher standards for Mod behavior, but he doesn't even meet the standards for regular members now.

Unfortunately demoting someone from Mod is not always easy because people can take it personally.

Actually, my conversations with him go much further back than Jan 1st, me trying to nudge him to post in a more mature manner. But he was not open to changing his posting style, deeming it as "weakness" to cave to people's sensitivities. His position was that if he took my feedback he would weakening himself to wokeness or political correctness. I explained to him that the opposite is the case, that this was an opportunity to develop more empathy and better communication skills, but he disagreed on principle.

It pains me to ban people from here. Especially a Mod. But sometimes there's no other choice.
