is it better to drop the temperature or to keep it when sick?

Will having high temperature help you get well quicker than if you kept lowering it with medicine, even though you will feel bad at the moment?

Is having moderately high temperature unhealthy on its own?

You can build immunity with Vit C. Make sure to rest enough. I never thought temperature changed anything. In my case, higher temperature made me feel worse. You can drink fluids to maintain hydration.

@Something Funny High temperature is good unless you have extreme temperature or health problems.

Your hypothalamus increases body temperature when there is an ongoing infection. It speeds up the mobility of so called antigen-presenting cells, which are basically your white blood cells (some of them). They get activated and move around the circulation quicker to enter the site of infection.

The temporature also slows down the replication of the pathogens so that's positive.

Whether to take a medicine or not is case by case. You don't want it to climb too high (in 40s) as it can start causing severe damage but sometimes if it is tolerable and only mildly increased and you think you can bear it it's not a bad idea to try to sleep it off.

If concerned give 111 a dial.

No, millions of years of evolution just led to a random mutation which then resulted in an insectoid randomly getting hotter.

You literally are either in this situation because you are using a singular microscopic brain cell to decide what to use, or you are defying a doctor's orders because, as we all know, someone like you thinks that spewing an ableist tantrum at the doctor is the best choice the second you realize he's more qualified. Amusing that someone has to live an existence like that.

@numbersinarow there is no need for any of that. State your opinion without offending the original poster

Ok I'll stop but I'm really really hoping the ableist meltdown he had on the vegan thread got him warning points.

thanks! I'm not aware of OP violating any rules in that chat but if you have any evidence we might have missed pls send me a message and I'll investigate.

@Michael569 he comes to literally every single thread I open to say something nasty. This thread wasn't active for a week. He dug it up to post a stupid comment.

He mentions some kind of meltdown that I had and I literally don't even remember who he is or if I ever talked to him. And yet he is stalking me for some reason.

Is stalking reportable?

Edit: just reported
