@Daniel Balan You might be slipping into an overly negative or nihilistic mindset, judging by the way you tend to post.

@UnbornTao That's exactly who I am! I only post if I deem my POV is of any help! If the way I see the world doesn't align with this community I will refrain from posting from now on.

It's perfectly fine; I was just pointing it out.

@UnbornTao I've always had a darker perception about human nature and I think my input is valuable. I feel like my input brings attention to some cold, harsh, negative aspects of mankind which in my opinion this community overlooks! I can sometimes be too doomy and gloomy but it is just my perspective! Probably a lower perspective, but nonetheless, one that can point out some accurate perceptions of the world!

@Daniel Balan I didn't mention this but the overall point I was trying to make is if democracy really is one vote per individual person then however many units of people are in a family should be able to cast a vote for the future of their nation. So even if the parents are selfish it shouldn't matter because selfish people without families get a vote too

@Twentyfirst I believe the current system is the fairest — as long as it remains uncorrupted. One person, one vote. Why should someone with 8 children have more voting power than someone with 3 children? Or someone with none?

If my boss has 8 kids and I don’t have any yet, why should he get more political influence than me? Maybe I’d like to have children too, but I can’t afford it partly because he refuses to raise my salary, and the politicians he supports allow him to keep underpaying me year after year. Maybe that’s why I don’t have kids yet.

That is happening in the present day too. Only with an 18 year delay. If someone has 12 kids, today his vote is 1 vote, but after 18 years has passed, his family has 14 votes, he, his wife and the children.

Democracy is on a sliding scale. Check out the time lapse here, as the world gets less democratic:

https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/democracy-index-eiu?time=2024&country=ARG~AUS~BWA~CHN~USA~OWID_EUR

I'd not even rate America that high anymore. Its saying its on a par with france, which it isn't anymore.

As i've said a billion times, the world has gone more authoritarian, into an imbalance.

@Daniel Balan Because I believe that people with larger families have more stake than someone who is just responsible for only themselves

The government should give financial aid to big families not increased political influence. Bro , you could even be Genghis Khan! I don't care! Your vote should be as powerful as mine! If you don't like it, wait until your kids reach voting age, then sure, your family because more numerous will have more votes!

What happens if kids finally are able to vote but everything is shit by then. You miss the point of what I am saying. If a country has 100 million people and 10 million of them have 10 kids each but 90 million of them have 0 kids each then who does the future really belong to?

@Twentyfirst 10 milion people to have more political power than 90 milion? Bro do you even think before writting? What if the 10 milion selfish people decide to monopoize all the resources only for themselves? What you are describing is Oligarchy! May aswell expropriate the 90 milion people out of their properties and give it to the 10 milion who have kids. I just hope the people like you are the minority and not a majority of people have so much corruption going on in their thinking. The future belongs to everyone! Not only to the wealthy who can afford to have 10 kids. I'm sorry but the main reason one would choose not to have kids is because of how hard and expensive is to raise a child. If more so those people should receive more support from the government, by having better wages so that they could finally be able to have a child and having enough money to raise him properly!

Those kids are going to grow up and get a vote anyways so why wait until 18? For what reason should they need to wait to turn a certain age. What is the difference of a 17 year old in democracy vs a 18 year old in democracy. Might as well give them their vote at birth

You can be poor and have kids and nobody said anything about getting money from the government. Maybe if they let the poor people with kids have more votes then they can steer society away from oligarchy and turn the tides to make having kids more affordable

The thing is, it's easier to fool people than to convince them they've been fooled. I mean, only a master vampire can get other vampires to drink animal blood instead of human blood.

Simple democracy system: each person has two votes: one for whom they want to elect, another for whom they want to prevent election.

Maturity, better development and such.

In general you need a certain age to make wise and informed decisions.

That's why I said the parents would vote as a family unit. But that vote shouldn't be withheld until the kids turn 18
