I think you're looking at history through rose colored glasses, just look at the civil rights movement, the Vietnam war, westward expansion of the U.S.. There's really nothing new going on, Democracy is messy, society is messy, look at the anti-communist propaganda and laws in the U.S. back in the 50s, the Kent State massacre. It's like when teenagers do stupid things because they're struggling to understand the world.

 

Democracy doesn't compensate for the lack of ethics in the society, obviously, but just like letting a teenager experiment and have freedom society will make mistakes in the process of learning. This angst I'm reading from you all seems to come down to believing an embellished version of recent history, and possibly some naivety toward Republican sincerity with their beliefs. The U.S. has for the most part been a bit wild with just short periods of calm like we in our generations have experienced, something I attribute in part to Democracy, I mean look back just before Democracy, you have the Dark Ages.

 

Democracy seems to have worked so well that many people now dissociate with their culture's not too distant past of savagery.

Our Government is basically a one party capitalist dictatorship, where the capitalist class have two bourgeiois parties representing them. Their Government is the one-party dictatorship of the proletariat, on track to build socialism with Chinese characteristics.

All of our Social Systems, be it Democracy or Communism or Authoritarianism, or Capitalism, Socialism, whatever the system that has been created, all of it now in this day and age is Corrupt! None of it is working for the masses, the masses are losing every year the quality of Life they had before, Western Countries overall have the highest standards of Living, this is lowering as time goes on, all of these systems do not work as well as they used to, lots of factors as too why, but mainly its because the majority of ppl are low Consciousness, Low Awareness, Self Centered, Egoic, Narcissistic.. What about Me (Me can be individual or about a small social circle of Family or Friends) is primary, other exists in a profound way, not many realize that we are basically all One or the Same, differences are promoted, Exclusiveness is promoted, Competition (I am above You) is promoted, so with this sort of Experience and Mindset/Understanding of Life, we are bound to continue to Suffer More..

What has to happen is either a massive shift in Higher Consciousness overcomes the population (which I don't think will happen for many generations) or a massive extinction event happens and we start over, or we change everything, how we do everything, from Economy to Education to Governance, other wise things will get worse...

If you're against democracy:

1) You're arrogant and think you're right.
2) You assume a dictatorial state will vote for you, lol.
3) Maybe you're not happy that Trump was elected, but there are actually potential checks and balances of different kinds (legislative, executive, and judicial) and at different levels (national, state, cantonal); The problem with the United States is that power is too far from the people, so it's not democratic enough.

I'd have to think this through some more, but I don't think we necessarily need a conscious society for democracy to work.

What we do know, is that the US constitution needs a major fucking facelift to protect against the bullshit we see now.

Private and corporate donors, for one, need to be eliminated from eligibility. We need term limits for senators and judges. A major fucking vetting process for workers in all branches of government.

This is more complex, but the two party system that we currently have is totally fucking BS. They demonize each other and split the country in half. So depending on who's elected, 50% of the country thinks they aren't being represented. Granted, a lot of this has to do with lack of intelligence on the peoples' parts. Our education system fucking sucks. People have no idea who they are voting for. Many don't understand policy so they vote based on personality or charisma or bullshit like "They're going to take your guns" / "Trans in womens' bathrooms" etc.

Anyways, there's a lot that can be done. Just because what we have now did not work, does not mean that democracy doesn't.

We have a lot of work to do.

Corruption has to be weeded out and we need to find a way to keep it so.

If there is a hope for democracy it needs to be something like for every child you have you get an extra vote. People with children are more concerned about the future instead of selfishly thinking short term for their own gratification. It's not perfect but I think it's better. Or something like only people willing to fight in war should be able to vote

Democracy is sketchy because if I topple a government and replace it with democracy all I have to do is use the media to brainwash people to vote how I want them to while also gaining their approval

This is one of the worst takes I ever read. People who have 5+ children tend to be the most corrupt and evil creatures that roam the earth. The selfishness and the corruption and the exploitation of others exponentially increases the more children one has. I'm not taking about people who have 2 or 3 children. From my personal experience, every time I've met a ruthless, heartless, extremely exploitative , extremely greedy, extremely selfish and domineering individual, that individual turned out to have 10 or more children.

Highly delusional, powerful people are afraid of not being able to spread their genes even more.

The notion that having kids is one of the most selfless acts and that it will always teach people to be less selfish is absurd.

Having kids makes the parents exponentially much more selfish, much more corrupt, much more power hungry, and much more domineering. Survival is on steroids and firing on all cylinders when having kids. And the more kids you have, the more ruthless and brutal and selfish you become in order to make sure the kids thrive and survive. The ego becomes bigger and bigger and more selfish the more children one has. 

This is not a bad thing. It is just a feature of survival. 

So in regards to politics, NO! People with a lot of children shouldn't have their vote amplified, Their vote should be the same as anyone's vote. Those are the people who vote the most corrupt and the most evil candidates into office.
