Great example of a low perspective take on the Trump-Zelenskyy Oval Office confrontation.

Note: it’s important for me to not get lost in the progressive/liberal echo chamber that assumes Trump and Vance’s behavior was seen as equally appalling across the board. This was red meat for most MAGA people-equivalent to pro wrestling/UFC/junk food-pure dopamine, pure entertainment, pure ego. They love Trump and Vance for this kind of stuff.

I find this take simplistic. It understates the challenge of actually tackling climate change.

But I still feel it is good all things considered.

Yes, I started listening to his metaphysics until I quickly realized it is nonsense.

This entire meta-crisis community is full of sophisticated self-deception. Watch out. It sounds smart on the surface but the more critically you think about it the more absurd it becomes.

Game B will fail. It is completely out of touch with how power, economy, politics, society, and culture works. These Game B people jerk each other off in their own echochamber.

By that you mean that there isn't much substance to what they are saying?

Im sure that you agree with the thesis that there is a meta-crisis, you probably disagree with the prescriptions and with the way they outline how the solution supposed to look like.

I've reached a point where I don't even agree there is a meta-crisis. I think they blow it way out of proportion. But mostly I disagree with their idea that they can stop growth and design their way out of it.

If there is a meta-crisis none of the Game B solutions will come anywhere near to fixing it.

We have a lunatic Trump in power and these people keep rambling on and on about Game B. They are so politically and developmentally out of touch with our situation.

I dont think they would disagree with that.

I think the idea was to come up with the necessary and sufficient conditions that a solution must satisfy, and if by its nature it makes it so that it is extremely unrealistic and absurd, then so be it, but it being unrealistic or unlikely in principle won't take away from the need that it has to be done. Or in other words, if there is no other alternative option other than an extremely unrealistic one, then you try to implement that.

Its like if its a fact that you will have an MMA match with Jon Jones in two weeks and there is no possible way to get around that, then you will try to do your best with what options you have, even though the chance of you winning the fight is basically 0.

 

But yeah, it seems that you don't even agree with the premise that there is a meta-crisis let alone with what necessary charactersitics the solution must have.

This is so wrong. Game B is not a solution at all, so it certainly doesn't need to be done. There is nothing these people will do other than create careers for themselves rambling about Game B, which helps no one.

Political solutions are not solutions if they are not workable for ordinary people in our existing political situation.

These Game B people are not intelligent enough to understand that society is not designed top-down by a group of intellectuals, it is constructed bottom up by collision with cold hard survival.

Climate change will never be stopped. It will happen and mankind will simply have to deal with the mess. No pointy-headed intellectual is going to invent a solution to climate change, nor invent a new magic Game B political system. And capitalism will also not be stopped.

We cannot even get people to agree on wearing masks in the middle of a deadly pandemic. And these guys are talking about Game B. What cluelessness! Humans are too stupid for Game B. All your social ideas have to take human stupidity as principle #1.
