This channel is a goldmine of these.

Low: strawmannirg, framing bias, cherry-picking

Relative to what this answer could be, I will call this low. But it could be deemed high in many other contexts.

Conflating being at peace with enlightenment, buddhist / zen group think, lack of God-realization

High: Steelman case for the modernist perspective and the flaws of relativism.

lack of God-realization

Beware of the trap in using this criteria to categorize a perspective as low.

I’ve fallen into this many times-truth is, what Leo teaches on the subject of God realization is highly advanced and unconventional relative to even the highest of human perspectives.

God Realization transcends any distinctions between low and high perspectives (once you become directly conscious of how all perspectives and distinctions between them are being imagined).

I think this is a deeper discussion we should have elsewhere on the forum. I don't want to dilute an example thread with us going back and forth on this.

@aurum

In what context do you feel his perspective is low? God realization? He answered what is nirvana as a realization of the here and now point of consciousness. He said that trying to reach some place called enlightenment creates dissatisfied craving for getting something outside this present moment. He may be at a certain level or holarchy of consciousness yes that's true. But overall it's low if your an extremely advanced psychonaut, spiritual practitioner and connoisseur of consciousness expansion. But most people aren't there which is like saying LeBron James sucks compared to Jordan which may be true contextually but most people aren't even NCAA skilled to embody that comparison. What do you think?

I don't want to dilute this example threads with discussion. Otherwise people will have to continually scroll to find the next exmaple.

But to keep it short, categorizing these perspectives as high or low is not simple. A high perspective could always be higher, and a low perspective could always be lower. So I am trying to add as much context as possible to my examples.

Specifically, I called that zen master's perspective low because his explanation of enlightenment was deeply human-based and devoid of God-realization. I also felt it had a strong group-think influence, which automatically correlates to a lower perspective.

It could be considered "high" in many other contexts.

This kind of teaching makes me want to torture Buddhists.

Still, I wouldn't categorize it as a low perspective. The guy just has no idea what God is.

Is that not indicative of a lower perspective?

Is it intelligent to set the bar so high no one will clear it?
