Low pre modern perspective:

Nice one.

This thread potential is high, let's keep it going.

Here is a real simple one, but I think it's effective for demonstrating some basic differences between high and low perspectives.

Higher: Long-term thinking, surrendering control of people, empowerment

Notice that Steve Jobs started with a lower perspective of being a micro-manager / fixer and had to evolve to a higher perspective. The higher perspective is not a given and includes the lower.

There is a whole series on youtube called "benefits britain" that documents people living on the social welfare system. They pick the worst and most outlandish cases out there (note most people on the dole are actually semi-decent people but obviously not the focus of this show). It's really worth watching not only because it's hilarious but as a great study in lower perspectives. Complete lack of construct awarness in these individuals. However it's really intresting how seriously they take their situations and how they justify their behaviour. I share the playlist for those looking something entertaining to watch a few hours a week.

warning: It's quite an addictive show, once you start you may not be able to stop watching xD

The Listening Society Concept.

There is maybe short videos or check the Listening Society page for a summary.

I am posting this lecture because I feel it is a good introduction for the topic.

Low perspective- Macron's ego can't get off its high horse enough to be called anything but 'Mr. President':

Amazing to see Mike Tyson's evolution of perspective from low to high throughout the years:

Low perspective- Musk completely disregards fact checking his truth claims on X, then when confronted on it-takes zero responsibility for false claims:

There are subtle tinges of racism here as well.

Low perspective: Trump on climate change:

Feature: dismissive of empirical evidence, makes truth claims that are completely unfounded, conspiratorial thinking, dismisses of experts & scientific consensus, creates media echo chambers, general narcissism/grandiosity.

When you put it like that, yeah this guy really is a fool if you break it down piece by piece. sigh...

Vlad is a great source for high perspective takes on the Russia-Ukraine conflict:

He is especially brilliant in how he acknowledges post-truth politics and its impact on 21st century global-political discourse. Really good stuff.

High: Fact-checking, truth above partisanship, empiricism, expert-consensus, stewardship of the epistemic commons

From the Global Disinformation Index's mission statement:

https://www.disinformationindex.org/mission

Quote

Identifying disinformation is a complex and nuanced process that goes beyond fact checking. Disinformation, as we use the term, does not denote information about which reasonable parties may disagree, such as varying political views. Instead, we use the word to refer to deliberately misleading information, knowingly spread, or the omission of certain facts in service of a particular narrative.

GDI views disinformation through the lens of adversarial narrative conflict. Adversarial narratives share common characteristics:

They have the intent to mislead;

They are financially or geopolitically motivated;

They aim to foster long-term social, political or economic conflict;

They create a risk of harm to at-risk individuals, groups or institutions.

“At-risk groups” range from immigrants, to protected classes like women, persecuted minorities, people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, children etc. “Institutions” goes beyond institutions themselves to also include the current scientific or medical consensus on topics such as climate change or vaccines, as well as democratic processes like voting laws or the judicial system. The harm caused by disinformation is wide ranging, from risks of financial damage to violence, illness or even death.

Content that promotes these disinformation narratives also poses a potential risk to brands. Advertisers have a right to choose where their adverts end up and what sort of content their ad dollars support. GDI's assessments of news sources enables advertisers and ad technology companies to minimise this risk.

The harms from adversarial narratives are increasingly evident across the world. From burgeoning hate speech and harassment to conspiracy theories and extremism, individuals are harmed emotionally, financially and physically as a result of toxic online content. At a societal level, increasing division and distrust of each other and of the institutions that make up our societies is eroding democratic progress, giving populists and authoritarians increasing visibility and power at the expense of competent and independent voices. No less than civilization’s progress since the Enlightenment is at stake.

High: Collectivism, societal interconnection, surrender of self-achievement narrative

And if you want some low perspectives, just read the comment section

Low: False equivalency, both sidesing, close-mindedness, group think, christian bias, denial of basic facts

In practice, this is what Conservapedia actually leads to. This is the "non-biased" perspective you are supposedly getting.

*Note* other entries in Conservapedia may potentially be less problematic or make good points.

Low: subtle forms of misogyny disguised in the form of men’s empowerment (ie. sense of entitlement). Assumptions about what defines a “real man” and “real woman”:

Noticing as I keep posting examples, I can often distinguish a low vs high perspective simply from title of video. It’s amazing.

Low: Even with millions in presidential campaign donations from Musk, Trump still continues with his victim narrative:

Classic projection, hypocrisy & double standard in accusing mainstream media of the very corruption each are guilty of in their pursuit of oligarchic power.

@Terell Kirby People learn that many of these guys are cognizant of the lies that they're telling, strategically. Trump is one of a demographic that don't get to where they are because they lack awareness, rather, because they overstep the mark following a lack of empathy, and not always cognitive empathy. Cognitive empathy is actually vital and therefore awareness in strategically crafting their delusions they know others will go along with. It's an enjoyment of manipulation rather than blind manipulation to navigate through narratives towards greater investment in their personal ends. By underestimating him and or simply trying to reduce him into a cognitive caricature, it works in his favor and he's been leveraging it for decades now as he knows it works.

Readers especially commenters need to zoom out and redefine the way the navigate the way narratives are presented in crafting an understanding of the underlying interacting systems in which these sentiences emerge towards the power to control them under their noses generationally before they like so many millions simply get washed away by the societal rivers momentum of mainstream media. It's unhealthy and becomes its own misinformation that others get consumed by, this only puts potential leaders that leverage these techniques in a more strategic position.

Mainstream media > Memetic engineering > Various Honey Pots (a cyber-hackers term you can research) for the general consumer to choose between on their way towards the meandering path towards > the Truth.

Low: Justifying selfishness, bluster & charisma, rationalizing with math, making up facts (you would never lose 25% of the value of your dollar over four years without consistently high levels of inflation)

Low: demagoguery, conspiracy, justifying selfishness, ad hominem (this was the speech with the "pimp handlers" comment, which has been edited out of this video).

This could be consider a high perspective relative to many. But specifically in relationship to Hegel's perspective, I'm going to call this Low.

Failure to grasp the Absolute, lack of holism, lack of metacognition, materialism.
