Ah, to make matters worse I actually placed a curse on him.

And that's the thing about pretentious garbage like Lynch is that it has the pretense of being good or fine.

@The Crocodile Read the room. I was only joking with my previous comment, but now you're being quite inappropriate. If you don't like Lynch's work, that's fine, but take into consideration the feelings of those that did really relate to and love his stuff. Have some respect, especially now.

@The Crocodile

Disliking his work is fine, and expressing it openly is fine too, but calling it ‘pretentious garbage’ in a thread dedicated to him after he just died is a bit much. Just be decent.

Great loss indeed.
I highly recommend this documentairy, about his life before his first movie. One of my greatest inspirations on life purpose.

It shows how his constant drive for his passion ultimately lead to his first successes, even though many of his peers and even his family were not convinced about his endeavours at first.

A genius and a true inspiration for artists.

What a loss.

Someday someone's gonna take advantage of ya'll taking an articleless/citationless post for granted and post a fake memorial/news thread, and we'll be able to filter out the lazy epistemic pigs who react first instead of checking the source xD

@lostingenosmaze

?

The family posted the news on their facebook, numerous of his colleagues and friends have confirmed it and paid their respects, how he was found has been described, news articles have been written.

Genuinely have no idea how you could’ve gotten it into your mind that this could be fake.

best director ever.

Mulholland drive was such a vibe for me during my addiction (winter 2022). God damn... I even met the cowboy in my dreams.  What a f*cking trip

RIP, legend

Have not seen any of his work except Dune, which is a mixture of weirdness, grossness, and badness.

You should watch Twin Peaks. It's a work by both David Lynch and Mark Frost.

With David Lynch, it's hit or miss for me because it is so surreal and out there. I enjoy the weirdness and vibe of it. But sometimes the plots are lacking and are too out there for me to appreciate.

But Twin Peaks (the first two seasons) are like the weirdness of David Lynch organized with the story-telling of Mark Frost. And it's very wholesome but dark and surreal at the same time. And it's interesting plot-wise and character-wise.

Lynch's style just not my cup of tea.

I know some people love it.

Anyone turned off by his weirdness should watch The Straight Story. One of the most gentle, beautiful, and compassionate films I've ever seen.

A love for seeing his wild ideas through to the end is one of the things that made him a genius but the other thing is how much heart he put into everything, The surrealist atmosphere of his stranger works only enhances that. Twin Peaks found the best balance between the two but everything he made was full of love for his characters and for making his art. I don't think he ever did psychedelics but he was a passionate meditator and spoke often about consciousness and knowing about those things informs his work a lot. I think Lynch more than any other filmmaker understood that life is a dream and that perspective helps make sense of much of his more obtuse work.
