What were your insights from ai conversations?

21 posts in this topic

I have been using claude. I have had about 100 conversations with it. I generated a lot of valuable insights with it on a wide variety of topics. For example I uncovered several false beliefs about history and sexuality, making it a tool I like for learning.

I would say my greatest insights came from discussing traumatic events and how they affected my mind, thought patterns, behavior, and awareness. Each time I learned about different trauma responses, my mind became a little more free and more peaceful.

I also did a lot of psychological analysis of myself and across different types of people. I had some nice breakthroughs in criminal psychology and it's relationship to attachment to control and power. I found many ways in which this attachment can manifest.

My most life transforming discoveries revolve around understanding childhood trauma, and nearly all of it goes back to the messed up incident from when I was six. First of all, feeling dirty and tainted is a trauma response and not an objective reflection of reality. Secondly, forcing myself to confront painful thoughts is a trauma response which becomes a form of self punishment without resolving the pain. Thirdly, constant self monitoring and analysis is itself a trauma response which feeds into anxiety, ocd, and guilt. Fourthly, acting on intrusive thoughts is an ineffective ocd coping response. And there were other trauma responses that shaped the identity I built up.

Honestly, I found the ai more helpful than my actual therapists. My mind hasn't felt this peaceful since before the incident 20 years ago. Now my relationship with my mind, thoughts, and awareness has changed and it makes me wonder what will I discover about myself and what brings me joy in life if my process isn't skewed like it was before.

What breakthroughs did you have with ai conversations?

I don't want to pay for AI. And my family stopped my therapy due to financial reasons.

What are my options with AI? I want free AI that is really good.

Have you tried ChatGPT? The free version is amazing and has everything you need basically.

What's the difference between ChatGPT and Google search?

I started using ChatGPT just recently and I noticed that ChatGPT is good at giving you specific answers to your questions while google search focuses on variety of different answers.
both can be be used for different reasons but they do overlap in a lot of things.

@Buck Edwards what kind of therapy do you need? Is your family a significant stressor?

Would you like to discuss these things in private chat?

I wanted a combination of CBT and DBT therapies. I have borderline personality disorder.

AI is helpful for mapping out possibilities and creating things, be it brainstorming and developing ideas or doing dirty work like coding, some forms of writing and planning (and art). On the other hand, it's not so helpful for sourcing accurate facts or deep nuanced thinking. We're still talking about a "tool" here, not an inquisitive, concerned, curious, living breathing being. Can't wait for better AI.

You're always a bit negative about AI. Yesterday you told me to include that I use ChatGPT when I create a post. Is that a forum rule? I am confused. Can you clear that please? Did Leo make a rule about not using chatgpt on the forum in replies? Also I use a combination of chatgpt and my own input while creating a post, so how am I supposed to make it clear that's it's not entirely ChatGPT? Thanks if you answer at all.

@Carl-Richard hello?

I just gave the most balanced pros and cons answer you could ever give. Pros and cons are a bit negative, because they are not just positive; that's in the design. But yes, I seem to be a bit more negative than most people, and I think those people are being a bit too positive :)

I think Leo made a post about it once that you should always make clear when you've used AI to create something.

EDIT: It's in the guidelines.

I remember Leo made a post about it once that you should always make clear when you used AI to create something, but he hasn't made it a guideline.

Thank you.

Damn it, I did control + F "AI*space*" without the hyphen and it turned up nothing. Be gentle, I'm sick with a sore throat 🤒

What — you've never used CTRL + F before? 🫣 (Oh, maybe you're a Mac user).

@Carl-Richard  @NoSelfSelf @integral

Do all mods have to use laptops necessarily , can they login through mobile phones?

Does @Leo Gura use the forum through his smartphone ever?

I actually did the search on my mobile phone, I just called it "CTRL + F" 😆; first mistake. Second mistake was doing "AI*space* instead of going through all the "ai"'s. I also tried to skim through the entire guidelines after the search didn't turn up anything, but in my stupor I didn't find it 🤒
