Warped Perceptions

Experiences which I cannot explain. Perceptions of Color, Sounds & Feeling. All being presented with a cohesiveness and consistency. Flowing in unison, giving rise to an undeniable conviction and certainty of Reality. What is it? How is it possible?

Is it merely an illusion? A mirage? 

It certainly doesn't feel that way. Not from my current state.

Convincing as it feels right now, there are times, that, given adequate conditions, the default state gives way. A unique state arises. One in which the default parameters no longer apply, or at least are loosened such that what is allowed to arise within this collection of perceptions is broadened. It almost always stretches my preexisting conception of Reality.

What are the ramifications of this?
