Aftermath of a psychotic break & dealing with Anhedonia

8 posts in this topic

Hello everyone. Last year I had a partial Kundalini awakening which developed into a spiritual psychosis. I spent almost 2 months in a psychiatric hospital and experienced insanity with some paranormal phenomena. After taking some antipsychotic medication for months things have settled down and I don’t feel much kundalini symptoms besides some shaking (kriyas) and spontaneous mudras which occur everyday. I believe my previous ketamine use and my psychotic break damaged my receptors and even though I don’t feel depressed I feel directionless in life and experience anhedonia. My sex drive and creativity is very low, I don’t feel like doing anything, I spend my days laying in bed scrolling social media. I don’t even watch YouTube videos because I lost interest very quickly. The only thing I enjoy is talking to people but I should be spending my days more productive. I have an upcoming exam for a course which will be a turning point in my career journey but because of the said reasons I can’t find the will to study for it. I need to find a way to rebuild my damaged receptors after this psychotic breakdown before it gets too late. Thanks in advance for your help.

I relate to this. Although for me it wasn’t related to particularly spiritual events. Let me know when you find a solution 😹

I have some understanding and “theories” of how it works in myself but I don’t think it would apply to you.

@Sugarcoat what’s your experience with psychosis?

I haven’t been diagnosed with psychosis but the doctors speculated if I was in the beginning phases of going into one and say I have delusions so it’s somewhat close…

I don't have personal experience with anything you described but it sounds almost as if you went too far and too quickly.

Maybe take a break from deconstructing your reality for some time (even a whole year of you have to) and re ground yourself with pursuing something relatively meaningful that has nothing to do with Kundalini.

Could you maybe take some time off and go travel or spend some time solo hiking/camping. That sort of stuff.

I spoke to someone who hiked 800 km with tent on his back and said it was a complete metal purge, at some point he said his mind  stopped trying to distract him and it was just him and the endless sound of footsteps on the gravel. Very therapeutic. Not to mention all that exercise and fresh air would do good things for your brain. Not sure where you live and if that's s possibility?

Go easy on stimulating activities and substances as well.
