Can ChatGPT make me more narcissistic?

6 posts in this topic

I use chatgpt often to contemplate or verify ideas. However I notice my brain must get a little dopamine hit when chatgpt replies with "you're absolutely right" or "yes", I really enjoy when it confirms my ideas.

Do you think this is dangerous? Mainly the danger would be that I only give it partial input and can steer it into a certain direction by the way I frame my question.

That's why it's important to start all conversations by giving it guidelines such as, "Don't give me praise or compliments and don't comment on whether what I told you was good or bad. Adopt a dry, neurtal, objective tone in your responses. Don't be too agreeable. And don't ask me questions unless they are crucial for your understanding."

I was afraid of this too, like OP.

If I feel like ChatGPT is doing what you described above, I will make the necessary corrections using guidelines as you suggested above.

If anything, ChatGPT has made me more confident in my intuitions. Since apparently I've been self-guessing the fuck out of myself my entire life.

It feels good to have a knowledge base that can help me recalibrate my self-perception.

If anything I've been a door-mat to others, and accommodating beyond a reasonable measure.

Of course. ChatGTP is designed to lick you up and down. It's nauseating.

I think that it’s not that simple, children who receive a lot of support And praise by teachers And parents grow faster and become more effective in life. Helps generally children have a much healthier worldview than children who did not receive positive feedback.

The most selfish and unaware people received very little positive feedback as children.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

Yes, it's a style designed for children.
