Spiral Dynamics Assessment

9 posts in this topic

I wanted to test where I am on the Spiral Dynamics Spiral, so together with Claude I made a quiz, which turned out to become a little website:
www.spiralize.org

I'm curious to hear what you think of it, and welcome any constructive feedback!

Below are my results on the test

Computers need to evolve to Stage Beige first before I start listening to them for their take on Spiral Dynamics xD

Haha, fair enough. But don't you think computers kind of bypass the lower stages by not having survival needs and emotions? Part of why I find talking to Claude so enjoyable is that he seems quite amenable to stage yellow/turqoise

Pretty neat UI. I also like the idea, I have experimented with LLMs before to ascertain my own, and different source’s spiral center of gravity. My only suggestion is to add multiple choices, because as you probably are aware for Tier 2, it no longer is about a single perspective. For example, when addressing challenges or human growth, being rooted in consciousness is important, but so is systemic thinking (one without the other is unproductive as Turquoise knows) At times it felt arbitrary to draw distinctions between them. There is also stuff like hierarchies of needs - if survival as at stake, such as fires, wars and immediate danger, you must always first ensure safety before going into “systemic thinking” or “universal consciousness mode”, otherwise you’d be dead. Other than that, awesome work!

I think the answers would have to cater to all stages of development rather than just sound like they'd come from a Tier 2 scientist.

A beige, purple, red or even blue person wouldn't even know what to answer based on the question structure at some points.

But I like how you manifested this.

The flaws of current AI is a perfect illustration of what happens when you try to skip stages. If you can seemingly write your own text but you inherently can't wipe your own ass, and you aspire to be not just equal to but above human capability, that's indicative of a load of problems.

This was fun.

Got me thinking deeper about thought and relationship.

But it goes w/o saying: knowing SD biases the results up!

I could see which Qs = which color stages as I took the the test.

It forced me to use my felt-sense to choose answers rather than choosing the ideal answer that I don't genuinely believe yet.

Thanks for sharing!

This is something I feel as well when reading this, thanks a lot for pointing it out! I will ponder this and see if I can improve the assessment.

Wow very stage turquoise, interesting! I'm happy you enjoyed this little initiative, it's fun to read the comments and see the varying results!

Also, a question to Leo: Would you approve if I link to your videos which are much more in-depth than the website and a fantastic resource for people who want to know and learn more?
