Elon Musk Shenanigans thread

Generally, I think that Elon Musk auditing the government for waste and corruption is an excellent idea.  The US is already essentially bankrupt and steps need to be taken now to get control of the spending.

I don’t understand why anyone would object to this:

“We cannot sustain a system that bleeds billions of taxpayer dollars on programs that have outlived their usefulness, or exist solely because of the power of politicians, lobbyists, or interest groups. We simply cannot afford it.”

I agree. I'm having trouble parsing some of this. I think there should be oversight on government spending, but I don't think it should be Elon doing this. He's too biased. Corporations hate the federal government getting in their way, which makes it hard to trust him.

That’s the claim of the democratic politicians who don’t want the audit.  But the quote I gave was not from Trump, it was from Barack Obama, February 24, 2009 in an address to a joint session of congress.  So, why didn’t the democrats follow through?   Now that Trump is doing it they find reasons to complain about somebody making a reasonable audit within the powers of the executive branch.  This should actually be getting bipartisan support.

I'm right there with you. It's one thing to try to regulate federal spending, it's another thing to actively try to dismantle government agencies, especially ones that exist to regulate him and his business, like the Financial Protection Bureau, FAA, IRS, etc. I'm sure there is corruption and fraud in some these agencies, but his approach is absolutely cut throat and insane lacking nuance.

It's not reasonable though, it's insane. There is too much conflict of interest. How can someone be unbiased in an audit of the FAA when the FAA exists to keep that same person in check- SpaceX was fined 600k for not following licensing requirements for some of their rocket launches for example. Someone with such a vested interest in the downfall of these agencies should not be involved in overseeing them. You cannot remove his bias. You're not accounting for his own personal interests in the matter. If it was just about an unbiased third party regulating spending of these agencies, people wouldn't have such a problem with it.

@Jodistrict Imagine trump said we are going to let Bill Gates go behind the scenes and audit the government with his kronies and their AI. We are going to let them go behind closed doors to our system to see where it needs to be fixed and save money. MAGA would lose it. Elon is like Bill Gates if Bill Gates randomly one day completely changed sides from left to right. Bought a social media platform to spread right wing propaganda spend million to buy out votes in key trump states. Then hes behind trump in the office saying me and my team of hackers are going to audit the government. And you are here like a moron saying its a good thing and we shouldn't question it and we should close the  door for them so they can get to work.

Even if hes telling the truth you need people to be watching and to be held accountable for what is happening. He is saying its all there but we dont know anything. He could do things to the system that normal people cannot detect.

In hindsight I think one of the "red flags" of Musk I had in the back of my mind prior to all this was just how many kids he kept having, while being this workaholic.. while basically it seems like offloading parenting to the partners he was with and servants/money. People who are obsessed with having lots of kids (in today's age) usually is to satisfy their ego, which is clear given that he thinks his genetics are superior and needs to be passed down via having lots of children.

I mean this guy just looks like a massive fraudster to me now. Something seems to have happened to him because I do not recall his presence being like this. There used to be some humility about him. It's possible too many people have been kissing his ass as a result of the string of tech companies and corrupted him in a very fundamental way.. and those same ass kissers and fans are now his "apologists".

Dont forget that Elon is just an example of a Techbro with weird ideias. Peter Thiel is on this boat as well.

Where is a amazing interview of Thiel with a writer I am reading in the moment, David Graeber, writer of the Book "Debt" and a big book called the"  New Dawn of Everything " a book study of the origins of this Tyrany we see emerging again and again.

People eat this shit up too. It’s hilarious. They are corrupt too. The crazy thing is in their minds they see themselves as saviors.

Elon Musk is developing a new payment platform called “X Money.”

Guess which agency would be making sure that Elon’s new project couldn’t scam you or steal your sensitive personal data? The CFPB.

Quote

A thievocracy is a system of government or social order characterized by widespread corruption and rule by those who acquire power and wealth through theft or fraudulent means. The word combines "thief" and "-cracy" (meaning "rule by"), similar to how "democracy" means "rule by the people."

This term is sometimes used to describe kleptocratic regimes or governments where corruption and embezzlement of public resources are endemic. While the terms "kleptocracy" and "thievocracy" are similar, "thievocracy" is less commonly used in academic or formal contexts.

This is not funny, people will die from this (or through reduced life expectancies).

Former Social Security district manager debunking Elon nonsense:

Tesla contract is dead.

Technically it started in the Biden administration, but it never got too far. So Elon may be clean on this particular issue.
