My studies are making me suicidal

for the last 4 or 5 years i couldn't continue my last year of high school because i was so ill. Fast forward until now after a long journey, i overcame most of my health challenges, and i am back to normal. Yesterday i worked for 7 hours, exercised for an hour and studied for 3 hours. However today as i was studying physics, it was so goddamn hard that it made me want to kill myself, no joke. If it is either that or being a bum on the streets, why live life? And so here we are now.

The real solution is to focus on things you are good at and passionate about.

Why are those the only options? Just having a normal job can be enough. It's not very likely you'll be able to monetize your passion anyway (if you have any, that is). If parents are pushing you towards academic success then screw them because academic success doesn't mean shit. If that's how they think you should say it to them bluntly like that.

@NewKidOnTheBlock The problem is in Lebanon you don't make much money without a degree, like probably less than 500 dollars a month. It is really messed up.

@Leo Gura My parents will never agree.

You can't live by the opinions of your parents. It is your responsibility to build a life and career for yourself. You cannot build a career at things you're bad at. Find what you are good at. You won't please your parents by doing things you're bad at.

There are plenty of degrees and trades that don't involve physics.

@Leo Gura The other options for the last year of high school are either economics and sociology, which i am not particularly fan of, or arabic and philosophy, which i hate arabic and i hate memorizing stuff which is required for philosophy in school.

There are four branches, Biology and chemistry, which i am in, right now, but of course in it there's also physics and maths taught. Or physics and maths, or economics and sociology, or arabic and philosophy.

And in all of them, i do not find myself. The other option would be to get into an institute that teaches music production: beatmaking, mixing and mastering. But i don't know if i will get a job after finishing the program. Fuck it i will just do heroin and be a bum on the streets. I am joking obviously.

@Majed Economics and sociology certainly sound the most monetizable. It's certainly going to be easier than what you're studying now, I'm pretty sure. If you have no options in regards to what you enjoy then go for the easiest option (which is also monetizable)

@Majed

1) You don't need to ace physics to continue on to higher education.

2) There are many other options, like developing skills and trades, programming, art, design, plumbing, welding, business, marketing, sales, management, law. Your #1 priority should be to find a domain of skill that you can excel in. Not to get a piece of paper with your name on it.

@Leo Gura I love rap music, but my parents are dead set on not letting me go into an institute that teaches music production, because they think i won't get a job afterwards. I just had a conversation with them, they told me to study one hour a day instead of three hours. Hell, it seems like a dead end.

@Majed You're not going to become a rapper by going to some music institute, or have any success in music industry in general. You either have it in you and/or you're lucky in regards to connections. Or you don't. First you should find out whether you even have it in you. So you can try that and meanwhile you can study 1 hour a day, that's not so catastrophic of an advice

@Majed Well, to be honest, rap is an iffy career choice, especially in your part of the world. You can't just blindly follow utopian passions, you have to also balance it out with pragmatism. You need a career where your odds of success are reasonable, not like a lottery.

Just because rap is unrealistic doesn't mean there aren't many other interesting career options.

If you were to get into music, it would need to be part of a much larger plan than just rap. You would learn music production skills that could be applied in other fields like making film, commercials, audio editing, etc. Then you could attempt a rap career but also have something more stable to fall back on like being a sound technician or music teacher or whatever.

@Leo Gura I like philosophy and history. But i hate the way it is taught in academia and school through brute force memorization.

What about just going into business, sales, marketing? You can make good money that way to bootstrap other things in the future.

@Leo Gura I hate that.

Well to be fair, i enjoyed pick up so much. If sales entails approaching people like pick up, i might like it.

@Majed Your all Doing and Having, no Being is involved and therefore You suffer...

First establish Your Being, at least to a point where Your Peaceful of Your own nature, no matter what is going on, this is 0 on a scale of 10 in Human Potential being Peaceful, we can be much much more than Peaceful within naturally, but without this first being established You will Suffer whatever happens in Your life, success, failure, marriage, singlehood, wealth, no wealth, kids or no kids, just telling You from experience.. I wish I learned this when I was in my 20's...

the forumla is this, first BE-->DO--->HAVE,  or BE--->HAVE--->DO..

Learn physics, biology, math, chemistry as a thinking foundation.

You can build a solid systems thinking/creative foundation to uplift your next moves.

Games, robots, integrated circuits, music, art, philosophy and whatever you will build, focus on your thinking foundation/mental software.

Getting a degree on something you "hate" is not the final move.

See it as a process, make connections, learn how to learn and create an alternative story to tell your avatar.
