R.I.P.

Edited by Nilsi

“Did you ever say Yes to a single joy? O my friends, then you said Yes to all woe as well. All things are chained and entwined together, all things are in love; if ever you wanted one moment twice, if ever you said: ‘You please me, happiness! Abide, moment!’ then you wanted everything to return!” - Friedrich Nietzsche

R.I.P., a President who actually protested on behalf of the Palestinians. One of the few anti-war voices in mainstream politics.

أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أن ليو رسول الله

Translation: I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, and Leo [Gura] is the messenger of Allah.

"Love is the realization that there no difference between anything. Love is a complete absence of all bias". -- Leo Gura

History will be kinder about his presidency than the mainstream zeitgeist was. Luckily it started to trend that way while he was still alive, a testament to how freaking old he was!

RIP Jimmy, an example of a true American patriot and humanitarian.

May he RIP.

He arguably accomplished the most for the world as a former president compared to any other former president in modern US History if not in all of US History.

He also was perhaps the most moral president in modern US History.

He was one of those rare American and world leaders who made a positive impact in his country and the world in both the presidential and post-presidential phases of his life.

He won the Nobel peace prize in 2002 for his humanitarian efforts around the world through his NGO Carter center and which played a major role in eliminating the dreaded guinea worm disease. Hence he is remembered with respect and affection around the world.

He was noted for his work on peace and wanted the US to be a leader of peace rather than the world's largest supplier of weapons.

He had also expressed his concerns over American democracy and felt that it has become an oligarchy instead.

An insightful saying of Carter lamenting American military expansion at the cost of its social and infrastructural development..

"I normalized diplomatic relations with China in 1979. Since 1979, do you know how many times China has been at war with anybody? None. And we have stayed at war. (Carter said the United States is) the most warlike nation in the history of the world... How many miles of high-speed railroad do we have in this country?... We have wasted, I think, $3 trillion (military spending) ... China has not wasted a single penny on war, and that's why they're ahead of us. In almost every way... And I think the difference is if you take $3 trillion and put it in American infrastructure, you'd probably have $2 trillion left over. We'd have high-speed railroad. We'd have bridges that aren't collapsing. We'd have roads that are maintained properly. Our education system would be as good as that of, say, South Korea or Hong Kong...."

The last president that was for the people.

"It is from my open heart that I will mirror you, and reflect back to you all that you are:

As a being of love, of energy,

of passion, and truth."
