How to avoid being impulsive?

28 posts in this topic

I have a problem with impulsivity. I make decisions in seconds and regret later. Sometimes I lose money or friends because of that. I get a thought or feeling and I immediately jump to act on it.

If you have been impulsive what has worked for you to stop being like that?

My name is Whitney.

There are specific types of meditations that might help you .

Watch video of HealthyGamerGG aka (Dr.K) on impulses. On YouTube

The problem is at time of decision making you are doing it  unconsciously so try to be more mindful during that time or make a habit for it .

It's just a feminine trait of some kind, women and some gay men tend to be impulsive, talk a lot etc.

It's neither good nor bad, not being impulsive also has disadvantages, everything is polarized from this dichotomy.

How is impulsiveness a feminine trait? We have the stereotypical young guy being impulsive doing drugs driving too fast whatever maybe reckless is a better word but you see the picture I’m painting here. Couldn’t come up with more examples but a young male was my first thought. Also I think I’ve encountered equally amount very talkative men and women

Because young guys are not as androgenic and have a greater conversion from androgens to estrogens, so they tend to have a more hypomanic behavior.
When you get older it reverses and you start to become calmer, grounded, rational, your beard grows faster, the hairs slower etc.  From experience, the more you want a feminine girl, the more it is an advantage to be anchored, because you become "the support" to her hypomania, the thick and penetrating complementary force ; Like a heavy plane needs a very volatile gasoline, kerosene, for it to work.

After all, everyone is different and everyone sees noon at their doorstep.

Scandinavians are becoming masculinized less quickly.

I’ve heard men get more feminine in older years because of more estrogen or something so kinda the opposite of what you say

Are people becoming masculinized?

Meditation.
mindfulness.
There’s also something called “noting” where you note the impulse or the emotion silently in your mind. David Hawkins talks a lot about it on YouTube and his books.

No.

Yes, testosterone spikes induce masculinization over time. Most of the time, men reach their final masculinization around 30/40 years old.

Women also have testosterone but the levels are not high enough to act as an epigenetic message of consequent masculinization.

No it don't, i made référence to studies i've read about reduction of local brain aromatase and antagonism of e2 by significant increasing of DHT and DHEA levels at men when they get older.  There is also masculinization and simply the maturation of the brain in general which decreases manic behavior. Manic behavior can be induced by stress, exogenous glucocorticoids, strongly aromatizing exogenous steroids, zuclomiphene, etc.
I have experienced it myself.

Just ask yourself, what is more androgenic? An impulsive 18-year-old  who talks for nothing, or a stable 40-year-old family man, candid/stoic and hard working. Btw, curiously the people i met with the most measured behaviors i met were rugby players of 90lk muscles lol

Maybe you like more manic men because you're particularly stoic, but most women, especially the more feminine ones and/or during the follicular and ovulation phase, will prefer stoic men.

Yes, Germanic whites in general compared to southern whites.
I was saying that because no one does that where I live unless they're drunk or something.

Maybe it's also cultural differences.

Ok then I guess google is wrong then. “All people born with penises are born with low levels of estrogen, but the levels get higher as you get older.” Says healthline website.

What is more androgenic? I can’t answer that because I don’t know what androgen does

I also prefer more stoic men although nowadays I’m incapable of feeling attraction. One of my replies in the sexuality forum said something about extroverted charisma but that was a preference of my past not really anymore

Estrogen is low before puberty like some other hormones, and then increase because of HPTA axis.

I talk about a decrease in oestrogen signalisation after puberty.

Lol.

It's okay my dear, you like the energies you want, i'm not saying that being stoic is systematically being masculine, and being hypomanic systematically feminine or immature, these are only correlations, especially since in fact there are several styles of stoicism and hypomania, it's also contextual according to our history and psychic structure in general. You don't feel obliged to cross-dress for me.

The important thing is to have fun.

Thanks for making it simple for me to understand 😹To answer your previous question , a stable candid stoic 40 year old hard working man is more androgenic.

That was a good ending. Thanks. Yea I understand you drew correlations but not that it’s automatically that

Having a calm baseline consciousness helps, but that's not all. You need to study your own psychology and become familiar with your own ego, your own triggers, your reactions. Compare it to others and see how the people that avoid being impulsive act.

That's false. Men are capable of road rage, fights etc.

Or perhaps, we have a different definition of impulsivity, because I include anger in there.

You can't avoid being impulsive sometimes, but you can think your way out of it.

Road rage happens because driving requires a lot of vigilance, it's stressful.
I don't know where you live but i never saw a man fighting like that, it's a problem of mentally retarded people or bodybuilders who dope and are precisel full of estrogen.

Women are more belligerent than men.

Yes, except that anger is not particularly masculine.

It's just a manic, hostile state.

it's a skill that needs cultivating... leo's had videos about sitting in a room doing nothing... very difficult to do when you are use to some impulsive habit. The hardest part is the first few days, but even then if you restart a habit you want to give up, you'll be addicted as though you never even quit. It's one of the reasons that it's hard to teach old dogs new tricks.
