For those who don't want children, have you thought about donating sperm/eggs?

In my life, I don’t feel called to have children of my own or to adopt. However, I've been contemplating the possibility of donating sperm for a life to happen. I'm kinda curious to know how my offspring would be, what I don't enjoy is how demanding and time consuming it is. Just curious to know if anyone of you has contemplated this possibility or even done it. Why did you do it? Why wouldn't you do it?

I dont know how this works but isnt there a lot of sperm donors in comparison to how many sperms actually impregnate a woman. So if you donate sperm is there a very low chance they actually create a life or am I wrong?

I looked into becoming a sperm donor in Denmark but I wasn't eligible due to a genetically inherited disorder. If you have certain genetic conditions or health issues or a family history of certain health issues such as cancer you can't become a sperm donor. I don't know if its the same for donating eggs.

You have to basically be a perfect specimen besides having good sperm quality and meeting mental and physical requirements. You can't be neurodivergent of any kind either. That basically rules out most of this forum.

I don't think so. The amount of sperm from a single ejaculation is like hundreds of millions. As long you have good sperm quality like Basman said, I'm guessing that's good enough of a donation to impregnate a female?

No, my genetics are average at best.

For me to justify having kids I would need to be with a woman who wants to be a full-time amazing mother. Or give up on my life purpose to totally focus on them.

Depends on how much you donate I guess

There are many variables that play into it that I'm unaware of

We'll just asume for the sake of the contemplation that if you donate at some point a child will be born

So you have to be a perfect specimen to donate

What was your motivation behind the action to donate?

Its an ethical imperative for sperm banks that a donee doesn't recieve sperm that could complicate their lives and add potential suffering to a family life.

I just thought it be an interesting thing to try. It would be amazing if I had some kids out there that look like me. I wouldn't tell my parents though because they would probably get attached. You also get payed some pocket change. I was soundly rejected though. I have a blood clotting disorder.

I had a younger 20’s female roommate once. She donated eggs at least 2x while living with me, and even though the money seemed worth it, the process looked difficult.

She had to do hormone injections in the lower abdomen everyday…personally I don’t mind getting tattoos, but for some reason needle injections freak me out. She injected them herself too…definitely couldn’t do that to myself.

She also had pretty severe emotinal breakdowns from the hormones. Once she came home crying because she thought her boyfriend died in a car accident…only because he didn’t text her back for a few hours. She completely fabricated that in her mind, nothing connected to reality. She was not like that normally without the hormones.

The egg extraction process is another story that is a nope from me too..

Too many downsides for me as a female personally.

I'm totally unaware of the process for egg donations to be honest. I'll have to research it
