How is it not a real nation and "should not exist". It's 157 years old. That's a lot of nation building and development. That's as real as it gets especially considering the modern nation-state is a fairly new concept. You can't just hand-wave all of that away.

But anyways, this argument is really peculiar given the fact that the United States of America is way more varied within it's borders. I've heard many Americans saying going from this state to that state etc is like going to a whole new country. Florida, for instance, has been described to me by Americans from other states as something that can be described as it's own country.

Is America also not a real country now and shouldn't exist? If so, then why should it decide that Canada should be absorbed by it?

My main concern with Canada and Greenland becoming American is that America won't treat them with the same dignity as they do the original 50 states. That they'll polute and economically gridlock and siphon these countries, especially Greenland, of their value like with those islands where they tested nukes and destroyed the local fish population (and became addicted to MCdonalds as a result).

Its better to cut a deal that gives them some of what they want while being able to set rules and stipulations. There is much to gain from greater partnership and militarilly, the truth is that they both need the US to defend their sovereignthy from Russia and China. The rest of the western world also benefits from an American presence on Greenland in particular in the case of detecting and stoping long range missiles. 

That said, IF its Trump that wants to cut a deal, add another 0 or two to the price tag.

Problem is there's a whole mob of people who will agree with everything he says and rally behind it. So it may start off as a joke but over time if repeated enough normalizes this position.

To me it comes off as oppressive and disrespectful that also has potential for further problems.

A crazy egomaniac can do anything so I don't count anything out the window..

There's actually quite a number of his voters worried he is just as "bad" as the left at this point, as far as being totally corporate bought and out for himself and his corporate donor base, LOL. It's amusing to watch... like there's no political party to vote for in the United States that will save it and the only choice is to enjoy the decline. This is just a conspiracy forum though and not representative of average people.

Actually the forum's owner is nothing like it's members and I suspect "Trinity" and Leo would get along.

I admit I'm just along for the ride... I don't have a high regard for either of these political parties nor the leadership that runs the west, much less any leadership on this planet at all.  We need stage yellow leadership, not the leadership of lowly evolved monkeys (greens, oranges, blues, reds) not to come off as negative, lol.

The cost to takeover Canada would be significant in resources and nearly impossible given the size of the country, even if they succeed they'd get constant guerilla warfare from a rebel movement and the population would reject it entirely. The US would also risk losing other allies.

I actually think there's a distinct possibility this is a military strategy to force the US allies to significantly increase military spending which is required for the west to beat Russia, China, Iran.

The world order is changing rapidly from the post cold war era. America is going to play the role of a regional hegemon by aggressively controlling entirety of North America and South America, while cutting off NATO and Europe to fend for itself. America finds it's unable to maintain global superpower status anymore because the empire is unsustainable in the long run. Conservative governments getting elected in every single one of the allies. Everyone pursuing self interests. Why would US be any  different? 

You are witnessing the baby steps of the truly new world order. You are missing the whole point if you think that Trump is talking out of his ass.
