Why do people comment under YouTube videos?

What's the point, if no one is gonna read them? If no one remembers them for more than a second? 

It's useful only when any interaction happens. 90% of the comments are useless. No one reads them for even a second. (Not talking about the 10% good ones). 

So comment only if you have something good to say. 

Edit : Comments are useful. But most of them are trivial ones. Quality > Quantity. 

And they don't matter in the long term. Momentary pleasure only. Obviously pros > cons.

Know your facts before coming to assumptions like these. 

The Influencers are benefitting from these comments. They boost ratings and allows for more recommendations of their videos. The more comments, the better.

Influencers also find value in these comments and they get to interact with their followers/watchers which enhances the experience. 

They also benefit from affiliates based on views and comments......and so much more why comments are an asset. This is why influencers usually encourage like, subscribe and comment on their videos. They'll even make an exercise out of it by asking questions so people will comment to boost their ratings. It's a very important aspect in making YT videos.

What do you mean no one is going to read them? I read the comments often and comment on many videos, I prefer what real people say then one person sharing the video. When Covid was occurring they news channels were sharing false news and how most of the population were saying this or for the jabs, yet the comments people made spoke a completely different story.

I disagree, several people have said I've changed their lives with a simple comment I left.

Saying no one remembers them is odd thing to say, maybe you don't have the brightest memory but people definitely remember some that touched them deeply.

You are making very broad assumptions based on nothing but your own experience of not caring about comments and not remembering them. I'm also assuming that's why you feel that way. Quite a few comments have been of use to me where people recommend other channels, mentions a book or two, or even just from their opinions or insights. The comment section is very valuable in general on many different levels. You have been mis-informed. I remember once I even started a thread here based on a YT comment that touched me deeply. If I find it, I'll post it here, as it's been a while now.

Here is the thread I started based on a YT comment. You don't have to read it but I'm pointing out to you, along with what MAJI is saying, that they are all not useless and can sometimes make an impact on people's lives.

Just saying that if u don't have anything useful to say, don't comment to create unnecessary clutter. You can see so many comments which no one can possibly read bcz they are buried deep. They are not top comments. They were commented long after a video was made, no one is gonna read them. 

Why are you generalizing ? I'm talking only about random and valueless comments. If 900 out of 1000 comments are not needed, remove them, so that only 100 good ones are there. Again, not talking about the exceptions.

Don't make assumptions. You don't know how many screenshots I have of yt comments. And how many of the comments I do remember even today. I have seen many great or impactful comments. @M A J I @Princess Arabia

You are complaining about utube comments on actualized.org forums. You made a very odd post to begin with then wonder why you have challenging responses. Can you not see the reflection here? Often what we have a problem about is a unhealed trait within ourselves that we project.

Lol. Again talking about the exceptions. When the fuck did I say ALL of them are bad? 

And see its newest comments (not top ones) then you'll see they are not bad, but they are trivial. If you still can't see the triviality, it's not my problem. 

If you have to comment, who's stopping who? Do it. My pov is different. I want to preserve only those comments on my channel history, that are loved by the creator and I have to weed out my unnecessary comments regularly. That's my philosophy. 

I respect your philosophy as well.

These forums need a voice command so we can actually understand what people are saying and where they are truly coming from because texting/typing is very limiting and not everyone can clearly write out exactly what they are trying to express nor can others receive how it is. You'd be amazed how many arguments get resolved so quickly when you can at least hear the person or talk to them in person.
