Panick attacks: Awareness makes me uncomfortable

11 posts in this topic

Being hyper aware of my surroundings and inner world at the same time makes me uncomfortable in public. But being distracted (unaware) always counters the panick attack.

Why? So unawareness = comfort? Awareness = discomfort?

When not in public, it's in reverse. At home I love the heightened awareness.

You are just stuck in your head and thinking too much.

Practice not thinking about yourself when there is no reason to. Practice relaxing and enjoying being present.

Because at home I work on my business all day. The transition period is where I get panick, like straight from home getting onto the subway for example.

You're just socially inexperienced and awkward. The cure to that is going out and socializing until you develop comfort around others. Then it is so easy. But it requires pushing your comfort zone for a while. That's what pickup is all about.

I used to have a lot of social anxiety but after a few years of pickup it's the opposite now.

@Butters  take some  potent SSRI’s. It will make you calm ..Chill ..And cozy . I suffered from panic attack and if it wasn't for taking Zyprexa pills I would've probably killed myself. I couldn't eat ..or breathe ..or sleep.  Let alone go outdoors .take them .

Ok thank you but in my case I think I am well over my social anxiety, it's just a very mild panic 3/10 times on the subway and that is all 😬 no panic actually talking to people or anywhere else.

It's self-consciousness, not awareness, what you seem to be describing.

I get this as well when I'm by myself or immersed into my work for an extended period of time. I get too much in my head and it makes me self-conscious when I'm around people. It helps me if I direct my attention gently from my head towards my belly and body in general. Being in touch with sensations and feelings eases the discomfort.
