Why do people want to feel unique?

I don't think people want to feel unique as much as they want to be themselves. Before we were social animals, we were simply organisms trying to survive, and in trying to survive, we feel compelled to express our innate survival instincts and organismic capabilities (competencies, skills, autonomous functions). So as social animals, there can be sometimes a tension between wanting to conform to group and expressing oneself. The best is when the group supports or resonates with your innate capacities and allows you to be yourself to the maximum degree that is socially sustainable.

This "Wanting to be Themselves", how do they determine what "Themselves" is? Its usually identity around body, mind, concepts, desires.. which is mostly false, picked up things, they desire things they were brainwashed into believing they need, to be special and unique and exclusive so that a certain feeling of Superiority (this is good for survival) comes up, in the end its about Pleasure, all of it is a form of pleasure seeking, you want to feel pleasure anyway you can, and avoid pain as much as possible, its a daily calculation, for too many feeling superior, unique, I stand out am special gives them a sense of pleasure if even for moments a day...

Leo does have a video titled "Sameness vs Difference", to me the most profound lesson from that video is that to exist is to be different. so , in a way, the more unique you are the more you exits? (perhaps)
I defiently feel that
the more I embody my authentic self, the more unique I become, and the more I feel alive and connected
Embrace the strange
