Why Do Sitting Meditation When You Can Do Hiking Meditation?

Next: Bull Riding Meditation

Why sit and meditate when you can meditate on a bull? Why eat food at a table, when you could eat food on a bullllllll. Why sleep on a bed when you can sleep on a bullllllllllllll. CALL NOW 1-800-BULL, why have money when you could buy an F-iiiinggg BULL. 🐂

This is ridiculous. My whole point is that you shouldn’t need any meditation cushion or go to a cave or go ride on a bull to meditate. But it runs into a paradox of that if everything is a meditation then nothing is meditation.

“Our most valuable resource is not time, but rather it is consciousness itself. Consciousness is the basis for everything, and without it, there could be no time and no resource possible. It is only through consciousness and its cultivation that one’s passions, one’s focus, one’s curiosity, one’s time, and one’s capacity to love can be actualized and lived to the fullest.” - r0ckyreed

Couldn’t marathon running meditation be a serious form of meditation that could lead to genuine insight?

Depending for what. If you want be one with yourself as human, feel yourself, be focused in the now, then yes. But if what you are looking for is opening to the unlimited, stop for a while of being human, be what you are without the human, without limits, then you need isolation, silence, calm, low sensorial stimulation.

@r0ckyreed

Your question is incomplete.

Meditation as a means to, what exactly?

Simply silencing your thought, inner dialogue, achieving peace and calm being mindful with the present?

Enlightenment?

The no bullshit answer is no.

The more intricate answer would be, enlightenment isn't prescriptive.

Also, you can sit 5 hours and attain nothing at all.

You could sit less but sit more efficiently, or arguably not sit at all, and attain "no thing".

The latter is not yours, if it was, you would never ask.

If you are attracted by the thought of traveling rather than the option, to experience peace, go with that simply because why not.

I found walking meditation being a supliment to all other practices. They all weigh into the mix, but it would not have changed anything for me, by walking alone.

Part of key here is external stimuli, even in flow states, the external stimuli is there and itself a distraction regardless of experiencing peace or not.

--

Could include story of a years long supliment practice of daily 45 minutes walking meditation with blindfold and earplugs, a kind of a partial sensory deprivation and a deep trust building meditation, but I'll leave it at that.

--

It's all going to amount to nothing though so maybe just drop the keyboard, sortie, travel the world just because?

Meditation is emptying the mind, feeling your energy flow, opening your blockages, opening your mind to the unlimited. It is normal to not be able to do this, then meditation is closed, unpleasant, an effort in which you always perceive barriers. If so, for me the best thing is to do psychedelics regularly, until you break the barriers, then meditation works, or maybe you start believing that you are alone creating the others, be careful 😅

Meditation is the wrong word to use, Sadhana is much better, its more specific in nature, it means Spiritual Practice or Technique/Method, by which there  are many, but they are time tested, but for them to work belief is not needed, just willingness to try and stay with it for periods of time..

Anything can be helpful, long walks in nature are meditative in nature, that means You feel at Ease in nature because the ambiance is there, nature is giving itself to You, but its limited, walking or being in nature will not bring You to the Ultimate, so Your Intentions as well play a role.. Willingness and Intentions are super important, find out what You want to do, find the method that will do it for You and then DO IT!

Doing it on Your own is not impossible, just highly unlikely, like they say why reinvent the wheel, its already been invented just use it!!

Karma Means "Life is my Making", I am 100% responsible for my Inner Experience. -Sadhguru..."I don''t want Your Dreams to come True, I want something to come true for You beyond anything You could dream of!!" - Sadhguru

Whatever activity or non-activity allows you to remain "present" is meditation. Do what works for you, need not question it.

There is only presence. This "remain present" is nothing but an idea, a concept. Mind trick. Having sex is being present. Arguing with somebody is presence. There's nothing but. Past and future doesn't exist. When the mind is in the past and the future, that is still presence, because it does it in the present. No effort is needed to be present.
