Why Do Sitting Meditation When You Can Do Hiking Meditation?

45 posts in this topic

I see it opposite. I see it as if you aren’t able to meditate off your ass, then your meditation isn’t that powerful. Sitting meditation is “easy,”but integrating meditation into your daily life is the real challenge and real practice.

It is easy to meditate when you are calm and peaceful sitting down. Much harder when you get out of the cave because life isn’t always gonna give you the best environments for easy calm and peace.

“Our most valuable resource is not time, but rather it is consciousness itself. Consciousness is the basis for everything, and without it, there could be no time and no resource possible. It is only through consciousness and its cultivation that one’s passions, one’s focus, one’s curiosity, one’s time, and one’s capacity to love can be actualized and lived to the fullest.” - r0ckyreed

Well the point is not going to be a limited state if you do It right

I like how Owen Cook says it. He says that you can love yourself so much that you can sit and stare at a cave wall for many hours, and you can also love yourself so much that you don’t have to do that to prove anything either. He says that if you loved yourself fully, you wouldn’t confine yourself to such a limited state. He says you can meditate while working on your life purpose and doing chores.

I don't like the terminology "Loving Yourself", but if by meaning feeling Love, then Yes, when Your feeling Love, then everything You do is Easier, and everything about You, your Body, Mind, Emotions, Intellect etc is enhanced by feeling Love/Bliss, this is proven, and it gives You Clarity and depresses the Ego or keeps it in balance.. The idea is to be "Meditative", as meditation is not an action, its an Experience, but as I said before eveything is a Sadhana in a way, Living Now absolutely, not being ruled by memory or imagination is a Sadhana, and that can be done anytime doing anything, but it won't take You all the way generally, other things have to be done, Kundalini has to rise and such, but one's karmic makeup may determine that and how it works out!!

Karma Means "Life is my Making", I am 100% responsible for my Inner Experience. -Sadhguru..."I don''t want Your Dreams to come True, I want something to come true for You beyond anything You could dream of!!" - Sadhguru

I think you got to experiment with what works for you. I’ve found just sitting down to meditate for any extended period of time is a waste of time. I think showing up daily is more important than any long sitting. Hiking is amazing and can also really open your mind. I love to hike and I have done some decent trials that take a few hours. I think it’s worth doing more if you find it helps.

The question remains; meditation as a means to.. exactly what.
