What makes you like or dislike someone and why?

9 posts in this topic

I’m curious why humans are attracted to/repelled by each other. What sort of people do you like/hate? What values or behaviors attract or repel you?

I don’t like people that remind me of my father. He’s always been a hardass and is prone to anger and yelling. He also does not possess any form of intellectual or philosophical curiosity.

I generally like African Americans, they seem far more friendly, authentic, and Charismatic than other races, but maybe that’s because I am one as well.

what i like is what I'm like

I want to perpetuate me

by procreating with you

and you're like me enough

to like me more than enough

In my perception, likes and dislikes are shaped by the law of chance. We randomly consume information, and according to our genes and the way our brain functions, we develop certain preferences some likes and some dislikes. The real question, which is important for our growth, is whether we can learn to accept the people we instinctively dislike, let them be, and stop harboring negative thoughts about them for no real reason.

1.Ability to listen with an open mind 2. to be able to learn new things(from me expecially) 3. willingness to follow the directions 4.non argumentative/ always looking to outsmart you for the sake of it.(knowing how to have "adult"conversations) 5.playfulness with flirting skills.

That would be like first points of attraction for me, the more you know the person and the relationship advances, then there are more points to add.

I find if you approach people with an open mind and from a place of non judgement, you can find subtle things about almost everyone that you like. Maybe how assertive and clear spoken someone is, how they find humor in things, how they do their job so well with such focus, how positive they are etc etc.

Energy. Attract/repel. Can't put a vacuum on a stove and can't plug a 600 watt bulb where it doesn't belong. It's all energy. No one is doing that.

Contempt and arrogance are big turns off for me.

I like to be connected to people and find it hard to establish any meaningful contact in these circumstances.
