Insight into how happiness works

10 posts in this topic

 I stopped watching porn and smoking for a whole week ..started meditation and exercise daily...waking up early in the morning . I feel extraordinary happy these days .  I stopped taking the anxiety medication. And I expected to feel shitty .but I felt normal and balanced.

I'm confident to say that I'm finally "happy " after continuing months of misery and pain . And I really got a deep insight into what happiness really.

See..if you think you will be happy by doing fun stuff and acquiring material goods ..you can forget about it .

Happiness  arises  naturally when we are in the moment. There is no need for a reason. Look at a child and you can see the happiness that is just there. We destroy the natural joy in us when our thinking is drawn into the past or future again and again ... because we create a dream state and lose the connection with reality here and now.

So happiness is a state where you feel free. You are not carrying a burden. Its no effort. It doesnt need a reason. If happiness is rooted in a reason..guess what ?..it wont last long will it? Either the reason goes away and you lose the happiness..or fear creaps in and you lose your happiness.

 Happiness will never come from fulfilling desire .if there is craving and desires..you feel a lack. When the desire is fulfilled..it just means that the desire is no more.. and thats why you think you feel happy. You feel happy because you are free from the desire .. not because the desire is fulfilled.

May all beings be happy and blissful. May all beings discover their true nature.

Agree, real freedom is get rid of desire, stop focusing in what do you want of life and perceive what life wants of you. Then you can start flow and be open to what life is without resistance, and seems that synchronicities start to happen.

@Someone here Agree, Happiness, Like Bliss and Ecstasy (which are just more intense Experiences, Ecstasy being the Highest Intense Positive Experience we can have, Peace being the lowest of the Positive, anything below Peace is not living Human Potential) are not Emotions I would say...

Pleasure is a shadow of Happiness, it comes then goes and is mostly based on 5 sense organ stimulation, Happiness is not this, its a naturally occurring experience once You create the appropriate atmosphere within Yourself, usually via Sadhana of some sort, some have it more naturally, others not so much, this is due to their individual Karmic makeup, but a Quality Sadhana can fix all of that, the Sadhana does not produce the Happiness/Bliss or Ecstasy, it just fixes the Atmosphere within You to allow it too naturally flow, we are meant to always Experience these feelings, it enhances are natural abilities on all fronts and allows Life to open up and new Potentials to become available to You:)

@Ishanga @Breakingthewall  glad you guys agree . :)

The only caveat I would say is that unfortunately one has to learn this the hard way . They have to fuck up and try hedonistic desires before they realize that that whole approach just doesnt work .they  certainly need to awaken to this.

im very happy that im happy :D..its like im drowning in an infinite sea of love that  will melt me.

I asked before Some people on reddit who think that happiness is derived from material factors such as wealth... But if it is so..then why do we hear  celebrities and wealthy businessmen committing suicide? Because money does  not bring happiness. .but up to a certain point beyond which it has no significance. If you are a fortune 500 CEO.. a lottery  of $1,000,000 will not amount to much increase in your happiness.
The reason I made this thread is because achieving everything that we desire in hope that that's whats gonna lead to happiness is the way 99% of ppl approach happiness.. and not by going inward and find inner peace.
Because the classical  spiritual teachings in almost all spiritual traditions is Realizing that happiness is totally an inside job (so to speak) and happiness does not depend on anything outside yourself. You need to cease creating miseries and unhappiness for yourself (also an inside job) and find the spring of causeless happiness within.

But the first step to true happiness is realizing it is an internal thing (within you) and not an external thing (outside and around you). Otherwise..you are always looking in the wrong places for it (. in the world and not within yourself.

@Someone here Good Stuff!

I've been preaching the first BE then DO then HAVE modus operandi for awhile now, having natural Happiness/Bliss is what BEINGNESS is, from this standpoint then You go out and/or DO then HAVE, or HAVE then DO, it makes it all that more worthwhile and easier and fun, which is the basic point of life right, go out, fail or succeed, do things, don't do things, learn/unlearn, make friends, lose friends and loved ones and all that stuff, if You suffer it all along the way you'll be stopped at point A and never go all the way, so when Your established in Your BEING then you can go full stride as Sadhguru says, not 2 steps forward, 1 step back as most are doing:)

On point again. The only thing I'll state is that it's not that happiness naturally arises, but that the sadness isn't there from thought.

Simplifying is a typical error of naive spirituality Eckart Tolle: you are creating your suffering. stop creating it! voila! magic! No more suffering!!!....clowns.

The human psyche has emotional springs created by millions of years of evolution that are not overcome that easily. the compulsions of acceptance, reproduction, competition, body preservation, the need for connection/tribe/clan, are real mechanisms, energetic patterns that keep you prisoner. You think you have overcome them with a mental trick because you have been happy for two days after reaching a conclusion, but they are lying in wait to catch you with double force.

The opening of the psyche to the absolute is not a game, a truism, an idea or something that all humans should do but don't do because they are stupid. It is a very complex energy readjustment process. simplifying is not understanding, the psyche is not simple
