The Boys

I recently watched the Prime video series called The Boys. It’s very good! Interesting commentary on fame, image, politics, etc with some cool characters and plot.

Only the first season was good imo. The fourth one is especially shit. The quips, the understanding of politics and the "smart character" are done in such a stupid way that I can't help but roll my eyes. But I still look forward to seeing the scene of Butcher murdering Homelander in S5.

@El Zapato I thought it was very good!

@PurpleTree I thought it was very good overall. Some of it was a bit repetitive at times, like when the boys realized they were a good team despite Butcher being grump for the 10th time. I skipped some slower parts, but I overall enjoyed it. I allowed myself to enjoy it.

@Nemra Yeah, I watched all 4 seasons and I just finished watching Gen V which is a good show in the same universe.

@Sincerity Season 4 was a little weak I skipped some sections but I also started to like the characters enough I was happy to chill with them for even some slower sections and side quests. I thought season 2 and 3 were really good, especially 3 when they have the short term compound V. The show definitely requires suspension of belief for it to work. But, I enjoyed the fictional politics, and mainly the subject matter of perception, politics, corruption, voters, media, and capitalism.

It really had to be taken for what it was, as highly unrealistic and entertaining. The politics was cartoonish, but also it really mirrored and showed a reality I think about how politics works. I also like the idea too the even in a world with actual super powers humans would still be corrupt devils, and politics, perception, media etc would largely be the true power.

I think it's a fun and interesting take on super hero's basically being the Villains. Though, after awhile the show is so over the top violent that the idea of a good or bad guy completely disappears in my opinion leaving a sense of moral ambiguity. Everyone is evil in the show.
