Depression/brain fog from probiotics

19 posts in this topic

Today i felt very depressed and brain foggy and anxious etc. then i remembered yesterday i tried a new probiotic.

And it’s funny because this happens to me every few years. Because i have some gut issues. And i read about some specific bacteria strain which is good for such and such i try a new probiotic and it usually ends bad.

Could be because some strains cause histamine issues which can lead to brain fog inflammation depressive symptoms or because of die off.

But i also react bad to some other supplements like fish oil, rodiola etc.

Probably my brain chemistry is very sensitive.

Yeah, that's what those pharmaceuticals will do to you in due time. I don't care what it is. People challenge me all the time about natural remedies but it's these same people I see with all these symptoms and then some. Nature will not be duplicated. Yes, sometimes they're needed but for very short periods. Nightquil and bangay and pepto bismol and taking pills to sleep and fake dopamine supplements and fake melatonin supplements, and yellow#5 that causes Adhd in children and cheap probiotics filled with chemicals and all sorts of shit, Eventually it ruins the body's natural responses and abilities to perform and heal itself.

Go ahead and rebut.

Probiotics are absolutely useless unless you have had to follow a significant cure of antibiotics.

Probiotics and prebiotics go together and is naturally found in foods. They are extremely powerful and useful for gut health and can heal leaky gut syndrome and many other symptoms including brain fog. If taking in supplement form, it's very important to choose one from a replicable source and of high-quality. Yes, they are useful in the overall maintenance of the body and can improve one's health in many ways.

The only thing useless, in this case, is Schizophrenia's response.😛

Ok, good luck with your health. Also you don't ingest the lavender oil you diffuse it. Unless it's the plant itself which can be used to make tea. I'm through with this mess.

Enough probiotics will help with fibers but no amount of them will help with too much fibers and reverse leaky gut.

The only sure way to reverse leaky and inflamed gut is to reduce fiber intakes and eventually lactose/gluten ; And eat more fat.

Maybe but me my objective is to become a 500iq alien bodybuilder, so from this pov does it worth the cost to invest money in "probiotics" that we aren't even sure are healthy ? I  actually know peoples who recommend antibiotics lol.

I don't think so ;)👊

If anyone has these issues.

I read that probiotics with only bifido bacteria don’t cause these histamine brain fog etc. issues.

But here it’s hard to find probiotics with only bifido bacteria. Most are mixed bifido and lactobacillus.

Found a cheap one at a health store which is supposed to have only bifido but it doesn’t even say which strains and how much. And when i asked the woman at the store she didn’t have a clue of anything.

@PurpleTree aside from probiotics which, I agree, are hit and miss most of the time, how is your diet overall?

Do you eat sufficient amount and diversity of prebiotic rich foods and also some sort of probiotic foods? Are you avoiding anything?

Gut issues can be hard to get on top of sometimes as many can be triggered years and years down the line by allergic responses, low fibre - high protein diets changing the gut diversity, antibiotic treatments, food poisoning etc

I’ve tried many diets like 10s of them.

Right now i let it slip mostly because it was getting annoying, constricted and not that much benefits and kind of obsessive.

i need wasiy digestible Protein in the morning that’s for sure. And not too much sugar almost no sodas with sugar etc.

eggs, some types of beans, chilli 🌶️ fish oil etc.

by "diet" I didn't mean any form of restrictive short term thing. In my native language the word "diet" means - restrictive short term way of eating to achieve weight loss. I think it might be the same in other languages.

When I used it, I meant basically, what do you eat on a regular basis?

Since you said you've done 10s of diets , it is possibly that you've been hoping from one thing to another for years without results. Did that gradually lead to you removing more and more foods from your nutrition palette?

And are there foods you have been eating consistently for years?

Sometimes a gradual deprivation of food variety can actually lead to gradual worsening of symptoms as the microbiome gets more and more starved of diversity. Often the solution is to do that in reverse and enrich the diversity of ingredients again.

By diet i mean

keto

carnivore

gluten free lactose free

vegetarian

lectin free (dr gundry)

fodmap

lots of different fibers

Some of those i’ve done for months and months

etc.

There’s often an initial feeling better but it can also just be placebo nocebo.

Now i basically eat “normal-ish”
