I come from a pretty bawdy culture compared to most people here, catholic from the South of France.

It's good to have good communication about what everyone likes, especially in an era of interconnection like this where different collective unconsciouses meet and confront each other more easily.

Work on imagination. Your imagination is creating your dreams. It can do that while you are awake. Im pretty sure you can make reality like you are dreaming while moving and real life will be like your imagination and you live like that. We kind of stop ourselves from doing it fully because we do not trust ourselves.

On one hand, it appears to offer the ability to experience any sexual occasion in any way you'd like, or something along those lines.

There are sexual experiences I can't fulfill in waking life, but at the same time, one of the things I really want at my younger age is to explore sexuality and learn through direct sexual experience. In other words, I want to learn about and have great sex through actually doing it.

I do this every night. 

It requires concentration training and forgetting the body and breath so the dream doenst stop occuring.

Read "Journeys out of the body","Visuddimagga", and "vimuttimagga" as well as "Abhidhamma". Those will sharpen ones concentration skills to extreme degrees. 

It doesn't involve imagination. Mind is imagination. You'll realize you are imaging your whole reality. It's just so well imagined you can't consciously alter it. The same happens in a dream with total lucidity. To Do anything you need God-like concentration.
