Breaking News: Syrian Rebels have entered Aleppo

96 posts in this topic

On 27 November 2024, a coalition of Syrian Opposition groups called the Military Operations Command led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched an offensive against the pro-government Syrian Arab Army (SAA) forces in Aleppo and Idlib Governorates in Syria. The offensive was called Deterrence of Aggression by HTS and launched in retaliation for the increased SAA shelling of civilians in the Western Aleppo countryside. The offensive is the first time opposition forces launched an attack since the March 2020 Idlib ceasefire. Other groups involved include; The Sham LegionNorthern Storm Brigade,  Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement, led by The Syrian National Army, as well as The Syrian Salvation Government.

Green indicates territory controlled by the Rebels.

As of now, the rebels have captured five districts in Aleppo city. Aleppo has a total of eight districts and this conflict (as of writing this) is less than twenty-four hours old.

Massive Edit & Update: Syrian opposition have captured all of Aleppo. Government forces have fled. Aleppo has fallen.

The Syrian Opposition began as a secular movement which sought to establish a liberal pluralist democracy in Syria. But jihadists came all over the world to join the rebels, tinging the movement and making it harder for the west to support them.

Now the Syrian Rebels consist of a confusing mix of secular democrats, and jihadists.

Please educate yourself. Syrians are not “Islamist confused jihadist”. We are taking back our homes and villages that belong to Syrians. The area was occupied by Iran and now it’s going back to its original owners

Read the link though. It says that specific group is Islamists and Jihadis. I never said Syrian are that.

What do you think will happen once the Jihadist Islamists are in power? Sounds probably worse to me ( in theory) than a dicktator like the guy before.

They're not going to come into power because no one supports them except maybe Saudi Arabia , all they can do is prolong this war which has been going on since 2011.

Assad tricked the world into thinking that it’s either him or jihadists. Syria is a very diverse country and most people want a secular democratic rule. Assad released jihadist prisoners in 2012 and he turned it into a shit show. Syrians want a free democratic syria. Nobody will allow jihadist to take over. Maybe the Muslim brotherhood will try but Syrians want democracy and freedom from oppression which is represented by Assad . This is not a pipe dream. My house in syria was next to a church and a mosque. Our goal now is to get rid of Iran which spreads hateful ideology in Syria. If Iran is out then Assad will follow.

Assad is the essence  of terrorism in Syria. Iran helped him because he was almost taken out by the Syrian people. If it were not for Russian and Iran, Assad is nothing.
The Syrian people will take Syria back though. It’s a matter of time. It might take months or years.

I know it’s diverse. That’s why i think it’s seemingly safer to have a strong (secular-ish) man/woman dicktator at the top than Islamists.

But i wish you the best for you and Syria.

I don’t think America will allow islamists to rule in Syria. They want someone with no dignity who listens to them like Assad.
even if islamists rule, I don’t think the majority of Syrians will like that either.
All we want is a strong leader who focuses on rebuilding Syria so we can rise up. We have the capabilities. Assad puts in prison everyone who challenges him that’s why you don’t hear of alternatives. The next Syrian leader has to be strategic with dealing with America and Europe and build good relationships with them as much as possible.

In essence, the next Syrian leader has to focus on rebuilding Syria and build good economic relationships with other countries. not on keeping control of power.

So you are  posting something from 2019 that relates to now? And it’s not true because you read something on the internet ? Dude you have to connect the dots more. The US is with Assad and if it wanted it would have taken him out like they did in Libya but they want him to stay because he is the perfect weak neighbor to Israel.

as of now The US and Israel stand with Assad since 2011

Turkey stands with the rebels.

the gulf countries don’t support the rebels anymore.

please do more research next time

Then why’d they do this?

the USA and Israel are anti-Iran, they wouldn’t stand with Assad when he is iran backed.

The USA played the role of choas agent in Syria. It tried to control both sides. There were hundreds of rebel groups in  Syria  at that time that didn’t coordinate with each other. Assad and Iranian milita were pounding them with heavy artillery. Where are the rebels supposed to get the help to fight off Assad? Some of them went with that training probably that you sent
Yes Israel is anti Iran but it wants a weak neighbor like Assad to stay in power. Why would Isreal want a strong leader in Syria? Assad is perfect for isreal.
And the US goes with what isreal wants.
If not for the US, I guarantee you Assad would not be in power right now.
The rebel groups in 2014-2015 were just outside the capital Damascus but they were ordered not to capture Damascus.

So why did they support rebels at all? If they wanted him in power just do nothing, or directly support him.
